✨ Healing isn’t about “getting over it.” It’s about gently finding your way back to yourself — piece by piece, breath by breath.

Healing looks different for everyone.

✨ For some, it’s learning to rest without guilt.

✨ For others, it’s setting boundaries, asking for help, or finally forgiving themselves.

✨ And sometimes, healing means simply surviving another day — and that’s okay too.

The content we consume online doesn’t just stay on our screens, it stays in our minds and bodies. Protecting our mental health is not about ignoring reality- it’s about giving ourselves the care and boundaries we need to stay grounded.

Exposure to violent content online—whether news, videos, or social media posts—can have very real impacts on our mental health. Some of the most common effects include:

🧠 Heightened Stress & Anxiety
• Graphic or violent images can trigger the body’s stress response, increasing cortisol and adrenaline.
• People may feel on edge, restless, or hypervigilant.

💔 Vicarious Trauma
• Constant exposure to violence, even indirectly, can mimic the psychological effects of being traumatized firsthand.
• This can include flashbacks, nightmares, or intrusive thoughts about what was seen.

😶 Numbness & Desensitization
• Over time, repeated exposure can dull empathy or normalize violence, leading to emotional blunting.

😔 Depression & Hopelessness
• Seeing violence, especially systemic or repeated, can make the world feel unsafe and uncontrollable.
• This can fuel feelings of despair, sadness, or helplessness.

🫩 Secondary Effects on Daily Life
• Difficulty sleeping, focusing, or relaxing.
• Withdrawal from social media or the opposite—doomscrolling, which reinforces distress.

🏘️ Community-Specific Impacts
• For marginalized communities, seeing people who look like them harmed in the media can deepen racial trauma, fear, or generational wounds.

💡We can protect our mental health by:

✨ Limiting media exposure (set boundaries with news & social media).

✨ Take breaks — grounding, deep breathing, or a short walk.

✨ Share feelings with someone safe.

✨ Balance your feed: follow uplifting, healing, and community-focused pages.

✨ Seek support if images or stories feel overwhelming.

✨Progress in therapy can take time.
Progress isn’t always fast, and that’s okay. Even skeletons need a day off sometimes. 🎃💀
Give yourself grace as you continue to do the work 💕✨

✨El progreso en la terapia puede tomar tiempo.

El progreso no siempre es rápido y eso está bien. Incluso los esqueletos a veces necesitan un día libre. 🎃💀
