AEDs restart the heart after cardiac arrest and are the most effective way to save a victim’s life.❤️⚡️

⚡️Anyone can use these lifesaving devices without the need for training. However, because cardiac arrest can happen to anyone at any time without warning signs, an AED should be nearby at all times.

⚡️Please, you have to use an AED as soon as necessary!
Timing is of the essence if someone is unresponsive and not breathing an AED is often the difference between life and death.

⚡️Grab an AED and get into action. Follow the visual instructions on where to attach the pads to the victim.

⚡️An AED cannot accidentally electrocute someone.

⚡️The AED will instruct you at each step in the process to listen to the audio prompts and follow the instructions until help arrives.

💡 A cardiac screening can detect heart problems before it’s too late.

Studies show that the standard, non-cardiology-focused approach to early disease detection misses 90% of young people at risk for sudden cardiac arrest. In Italy, for example, screening high school athletes has reduced sudden cardiac deaths by 90%.
Let’s learn about cardiac screening and why they are performed to detect heart disease. Some of these include:

Cardiac Risk Assessment
A cardiac risk assessment records physical symptoms that may indicate heart disease.

Electrocardiogram (ECG)
An electrocardiogram (ECG) measures the heartbeat with 12 electrodes attached to the body. It can detect approximately 60% of heart disease.

Echocardiogram (Echo)
If a young person has an abnormal ECG, an echocardiogram is performed. This diagnostic imaging method uses sound waves to capture precise images of the heart.

📍 If you have a family history of heart disease, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, or a sedentary lifestyle, get tested! Don’t wait for your heart to call for help.

Poor diet is the leading contributor to heart disease, And yet un-healthy, nutrient-poor foods make up more than one third of the average person’s daily kilojoules
Here is how you can fill your shopping trolly with heart healthy, nutrient-packed foods while on a budget

•Fresh fish or salmon > Canned tuna or salmon
•Fresh fruit > Canned + frozen fruit
•Pick fruits in canned juice, not syrup
•Fresh vegetables > Canned or frozen vegetables
•Meat based protein > Cheaper cuts of lean, unprocessed meat or plant-based proteins Such as beans, lentils & chickpeas
•Soft drinks > Water

Opt for ‘no added salt’ or ‘low salt’ versions of canned goods.

Additional tips to help you eat heart-healthy on a budget

•Make a list and stick to it
•If you bulk buy items such as a bag of carrots - make regular meals using this ingredient to avoid them spoiling in your fridge.
•Buy in-season fruit and vegetables as they are fresher and cheaper

Bradycardia occurs when the heart rate is slower than normal, typically below 60 beats per minute (bpm) in adults. While it can be normal for some people (like athletes), in other cases, it may be a warning sign.

You should be concerned if bradycardia is accompanied by:
•Dizziness or fainting
•Extreme fatigue
•Shortness of breath
•Chest pain
•Confusion or memory problems

📌 Common Causes:
🔸 Issues with the sinoatrial node (the heart’s natural pacemaker)
🔸 Heart disease or a previous heart attack
🔸 Electrolyte imbalances
🔸 Certain medications

If you experience these symptoms, seek medical attention immediately. An Automated External Defibrillator (AED) can be life-saving in emergencies. Learn more about how it can help. 💙

Cardiac arrest doesn’t just affect men. Every year, thousands of women experience sudden cardiac arrest, but their symptoms are often overlooked or mistaken for other health issues.

How to recognize an emergency?

🚩 Common symptoms before cardiac arrest in women:

•Chest pain or pressure (not always severe).
•Shortness of breath.
•Nausea or vomiting.
•Dizziness or fainting.
•Extreme fatigue or pain in the jaw, neck, or back.

🚨 What to do in case of cardiac arrest?
~Call 911 immediately.
~Start CPR: Push hard and fast in the center of the chest (100-120 times per minute).
~Use an AED if available.

More women need to learn CPR and receive help in emergencies. Share this message and help save lives. 🩷

Did you know that chronic kidney disease (CKD) significantly increases the risk of cardiovascular disease? According to the American Heart Association, the global mortality rate from CKD has risen by 24% between 1990 and 2021, highlighting the importance of protecting our kidneys to safeguard our heart.

How can you prevent and detect CKD early?

✅ Regular check-ups: Two key tests—urine albumin-to-creatinine ratio (UACR) and estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR)—help detect early kidney damage.

✅ Healthy lifestyle: Maintain a balanced diet, exercise regularly, and manage conditions like diabetes and high blood pressure.

✅ Medical consultation: If you have risk factors, talk to your doctor about these tests and get proper guidance.

Taking care of your kidneys also means taking care of your heart. Prioritize your health and take preventive measures today! 💪❤️

If someone in your family has had a heart attack, you might wonder if you’re at risk too. The answer is: yes, genetics can play a role. But the good news is that your lifestyle choices matter just as much—or even more—when it comes to prevention.

🔎 How do you know if you’re at higher risk?
If a close family member (parents, siblings) had a heart attack before age 60, you may have a genetic predisposition to heart disease.

💙 What you can do TODAY to protect your heart:

✔ Know your family history and discuss it with your doctor.
✔ Eat a heart-healthy diet: fewer processed foods, more fresh ingredients.
✔ Stay active: exercise strengthens your heart.
✔ Monitor your blood pressure and cholesterol with regular check-ups.
✔ Avoid smoking and limit alcohol consumption.

Remember: your choices make a difference. While genetics play a role, a healthy lifestyle can help reduce your risk. Take care of your heart! ❤️

Each beat reminds us of the importance of taking care of ourselves, both physically and emotionally. Did you know that the human heart beats around 100,000 times a day? Incredible, isn’t it!

Today we invite you to reflect: What do you do to keep your heart healthy? Whether it’s a walk outdoors, a balanced meal, or simply taking a moment to breathe and relax.

The threat of cardiac arrest doesn’t go away, just because you are ✈️

With thousands of cases happening during global travel, it is a relief planes are equipped with AEDs.⚡️
Research shows that all survivors of on-plane cardiac arrests were treated with an AED.

Cardiac arrest can happen to anyone. Equip your home, office, or school with an AED to protect those around you. ❤️

⚠️ Every minute counts in sudden cardiac arrest ⚠️

The survival rate decreases by 7% to 10% per minute without defibrillation. Having an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) nearby can mean the difference between life and death.

Invest in your community’s safety! Train your staff and ensure an AED is available in your facility.

⚠️Each year in the United States, over 7,000 children experience an out-of-hospital cardiac arrest (OHCA).

Their chances of survival are largely dependent on whether bystanders and practitioners act with the same confidence and skill set with which they would treat an adult.

Only 9% of children survive, and many have poor neurological outcomes.

Misperceptions can cause a roadblock to proper care. When one says “sudden cardiac arrest,” most people don’t envision a child. More than likely, they envision an elderly male patient with existing health concerns. Though that would reflect the average victim of SCA, it would not be an accurate representation of the true scope of victims. SCA can claim anyone – of any age, male or female, regardless if they have an existing heart condition.

Of the arrests that are witnessed, bystander CPR is only performed 35% of the time. Experts suggest that one way to improve pediatric survival rates is to build bystander confidence to take action.

To increase SCA survival rates for children, training needs to be geared toward the people who are most likely to be with them – parents, teachers, coaches, and even children as young as 9-years-old. Engaging courses that provide the pediatric practice that these learners need are one way to make the training stick.
