Rhonda Eyes Alliance Inc Rhonda Eyes Alliance, Inc. March 2021, REA kick started its Works with a fact finding weekend mission in Nassau, Bahamas.

The outcomes show a great need for serving the Less Fortunate. We are excited to partner with the Rotary of Nassau & Bahamian Optometric Association in the near future for additional missions in the Islands of the Bahamas. REA’s works were put on hold temporarily due to global pandemic in 2020 - 2021 however REA Continued to support the local team in Haiti with their monthly stipends & telephone m

inutes. Over the last 13 years, REA has established an functioning Vision Center @ L'Eglise de Dieu Reformee Hospital in Arcahaie, Haiti. REA has expanded by assisting local Haitian ophthalmologists to set up satellite clinics in the outlying outskirts. The services include providing comprehensive eye examinations, eyeglasses & medications and performs cataract surgeries in partnership with local doctors bi monthly. REA has implemented an on hands training program for local trainees to become certified optical technicians. To date, the trainees have been promoted to optical technicians responsible for keeping clinic open 3 days per week. REA will continue to travel to rural communitiies in the Caribbean, US and Haiti in particular having the most need. In South Florida, REA Volunteers provide Vision Screenings and Eyeglass-Tune ups @ Senior Homes, Health Fairs & Community Groups.

At the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa High‑Level Forum on Sustainable Health Financing, earlier today, our Chief Global Affairs Officer Keisha McGuire spoke about moving from concept to implementation—using eye health as a clear, evidence‑based example of what works.

Drawing on RestoringVision’s partnerships with governments in Mexico, Peru, and Nigeria, she highlighted a consistent lesson: financing delivers real impact when it is grounded in policy reform, aligned with fiscal realities, and embedded in systems built to scale.

As countries look ahead to making concrete commitments at the in November, eye health stands out as a ready‑to‑implement opportunity to strengthen human capital, productivity, and long‑term growth.

Our Story

Over the last 11 years, REA has established an functioning Vision Center @ L'Eglise de Dieu Reformee Hospital in Arcahaie, Haiti. The services include providing comprehensive eye examinations, eyeglasses & medications and performs cataract surgeries in partnership with local doctors. REA has implemented an on hands training program for local trainees to become certified optical technicians. Coming in the Fall of 2019...optical lab on premise! REA will continue to travel to rural communities in the Caribbean, US and Haiti in particular having the most need.

UPDATE: Today February 12, 2019 - In Haiti in 2018 , REA’s Haiti Vision Clinic had over 12 vision clinics, served over 900 patients in all aspects of eye care, over 350 new pairs of custom eyeglasses, 200 reading glasses,sunglasses for all, medications & 49 cataract surgeries.

REA is pleased to announce that the training program is stablizing , we thank Project Director Kesnel Jean for his loyalty to program throughout its entirety, to Surgeon Yves Pierre DeCastro & Clinical Ophthalmologist Dr Jimmy Beausoleil for their committment to caring for eyes of Less Fortunate in the rural areas. Traveling in Haiti is unstable and this REA Team travels from past the capital to Arcahaie to serve the people from east, east north & south. The local trainees are now doing online training as well as OJT.

In South Florida, REA Volunteers continue to provide Vision Screenings and Eyeglass-Tune ups @ Senior Homes, Health Fairs & Community Groups. 2019 is dedicated in both the USA & Caribbean to increase identifying Visual impairements through vision screenings especially in children with REA’s Spring Program: “ Children First, I SEE, I LEARN”.
