As National Cancer Prevention Month comes to a close, the message remains important all year long 💙
Many cancers can be prevented or detected early through regular screenings, healthy lifestyle choices, and paying attention to changes in your body.
When it comes to gynecologic cancers, prevention and early detection truly save lives.
Simple steps can make a meaningful difference:
✔️ Stay up to date with Pap smears and HPV testing
✔️ Don’t ignore unusual or persistent symptoms
✔️ Know your family health history
✔️ Keep regular wellness visits with your healthcare provider
✔️ Ask questions and advocate for your health
Cancer prevention isn’t just a February conversation. Awareness, screening, and proactive care matter every day of the year.
Ever feel like something is changing… but you can’t quite explain it?
You might be experiencing perimenopause — the transition leading up to menopause that can begin years before periods stop completely.
Many women say the first sign isn’t hot flashes.
It’s simply not feeling like themselves.
You may notice:
✨ Trouble sleeping even when you’re tired
✨ Sudden heat or night sweats
✨ Mood or energy changes
✨ Brain fog or forgetfulness
✨ Changes in bladder or vaginal health
Here’s the important part: these symptoms are common, but they are not something you have to ignore or push through.
Understanding what’s happening in your body is the first step toward feeling better — and there are options that can help.
If something feels off, it’s worth a conversation.
Even celebrities face the same health fears many women experience. Recently, Nicole 'Snooki' Polizzi shared her cervical cancer scare after doctors found cancerous cells during follow-up testing after abnormal Pap smear results.
“I’m terrified… it’s scary, but we have to get it done because cervical cancer is nothing to joke about.”
Her message is an important reminder: routine screenings save lives. Pap smears and follow-up testing can detect abnormal cells early, often before cancer develops, when treatment is most effective.
Fear, discomfort, or busy schedules can make it easy to delay appointments, but prioritizing preventive care can make all the difference.
Cervical cancer is largely preventable with regular screening and early detection.
💙 If your doctor recommends follow-up testing, don’t wait.
Olympic dreams don’t stop in the face of adversity.
After surviving ovarian cancer, Olympic figure skater Piper Gilles went on to win a bronze medal at the 2026 Winter Olympics — a powerful reminder of resilience, early detection, and hope.
“It was so, so scary,” she shared about her diagnosis. “You can do hard things… keep believing in yourself and keep chasing your dreams.”
Like many women with ovarian cancer, her symptoms were subtle at first: nausea, fatigue, and pelvic discomfort. Because ovarian cancer often presents with vague symptoms and has no routine screening test, listening to your body and seeking evaluation when something feels off is essential.
Common symptoms may include:
• Persistent bloating
• Pelvic or abdominal pain
• Feeling full quickly
• Frequent urination
• Changes in bowel habits
Early evaluation can make a life-saving difference. Awareness matters every day of the year.
💙 If you are experiencing persistent or unusual symptoms, don’t ignore them.
This Valentine's Day, we're thinking about all the ways love shows up—for partners, family, friends, and ourselves. For anyone navigating a gynecologic cancer journey, or taking proactive steps in prevention, know that you have a team dedicated to standing with you.
To understand perimenopause, it helps to first know what menopause is. Menopause is reached when a woman has gone one full year without a natural period. Technically, menopause begins the day after that one-year mark.
Perimenopause is the transition leading up to menopause. During this time, the ovaries gradually produce less consistent hormones like estrogen and progesterone. This process can start 2 to 10 years before menopause, and every woman experiences it differently.
If you’re noticing changes in your cycle, hot flashes, or other symptoms, it’s a good idea to talk to your healthcare provider about ways to manage this transition.
