It's Myth Monday!
Myth: People with cancer are the only ones that can receive hospice care.
Reality: Hospice can be appropriate for cancer patients with a terminal diagnosis or who choose not to receive further treatments, however hospice care is not just for patients with cancer. In fact, hospice patients could be diagnosed with stroke, heart disease, lung disease, or coma, to name just a few. If a patient has a life-limiting illness or terminal diagnosis, no matter what it might be, then they are likely to be a good candidate for hospice services.
