Healing Through Art: Understanding the Effects of Trauma and Creative Ways to Cope (Adult Group) Wednesdays at 6:30pm

Sometimes when terrible things happen, we just can’t find the words. Often, it means we have to turn to our senses to communicate. Using trauma-informed expressive art making, an evidence-based modality, we can process traumatic events and begin to heal. In this closed six-week group for adults, participants will explore how trauma affects the body and brain and learn to recognize their own triggers and trauma response. We will practice using mindfulness and artmaking in a variety of media to process trauma and complete the stress response cycle. Worried about making art in front of others? You aren’t alone! This is ALL about process over product. No art experience needed! Facilitated by Elyse Chudzynski, LMHCA, Wednedays at 6:30pm

LGBTQ2IA+ Teen Group Tuesdays at 6:30pm

This therapy group is a place for teens with diverse sexualities and genders to seek community and understanding in a space facilitated by Abby Lancaster, LSW. Teens interested in this group can expect to have discussions about the complexities of navigating sexuality and gender as well as learning about self-care, safety, and skills to build on emotional intelligence and resiliency. Messaging from media, politics, and online figures are a driving force of exclusion and isolation for adolescents today, and having a space for community, understanding, and empathy is incredibly important to support the emotional health of young people. Tuesdays at 6:30pm
