Our board-certified plastic surgeons at The Centre, P.C. use a funnel for placing silicone breast implants. This is designed for no-contact implant placement. Anything that touches the implant on its way in, could deposit bacteria onto its surface. The funnel protects the implant from skin contact as it goes in.

Healing process for a breast augmentation:

After a breast augmentation, most people feel tightness, soreness, and swelling in the first few days. Within about 1–2 weeks, discomfort improves and many can return to light, non-strenuous work, though the breasts will still look swollen and sit higher than final results.

Over the next 4–6 weeks, swelling continues to go down and the implants begin to “settle” into a more natural position. Most normal activities and exercise are gradually reintroduced around this time, depending on surgeon clearance.

Final results typically continue to refine over 3–6 months as swelling fully resolves and the implants soften and settle into their final shape.
