This month’s Staff Spotlight features the brother of Frank Knapp, January’s staff post, Ed Knapp!

Ed works as a Funeral Assistant and Greeter and has served in this role for nearly the same amount of time as his brother Frank. He became a beloved member of the Hahn Funeral Home family at a very young age, helping with odd jobs and assisting at funerals for Ron Hahn.

Ed dedicated 31 years to General Electric, where he served as Sales Manager for the Plastics Division. Following his time at GE, he started his own business, Knapp Removal Service, where he assisted funeral homes by providing transportation services. After a successful 11 years, Ed sold the business. The company continues to operate to this day and still assists Hahn Funeral Home as well as many other local funeral homes.

Ed married his wife Martha DeVolder, on September 24, 1977, and shared 45 wonderful years together, before her passing in 2022. Ed is the proud father of one daughter and grandfather of three grandchildren. In his free time, when he isn’t helping at Hahn Funeral Home, Ed enjoys playing golf and working in his yard. Ed is known for being meticulous when it comes to his yard. He especially loves tending to his vegetable garden. He also enjoys taking trips to see his grandson in Arizona.

We are incredibly thankful to Ed for all he has done for Hahn Funeral Home and for others in our community. Through his work and assistance in the funeral profession, Ed has made a lasting contribution to the Michiana community. We feel especially fortunate and grateful that he remains such a dedicated and willing part of our team.

We are saddened to hear of the passing of Neil Sedaka, a legendary singer, songwriter, and pianist whose music helped define a generation.

From timeless hits like “Calendar Girl,” “Happy Birthday Sweet Sixteen,” and “Breaking Up Is Hard to Do,” Neil’s melodies and heartfelt lyrics became part of the soundtrack of so many lives. His talent, charm, and enduring career left a lasting mark on the world of music.

Today, we remember the joy his songs brought to dance floors, car radios, and family gatherings everywhere. 🎶

Rest in peace, Neil. Thank you for the memories.
