The “Perfect Storm” That Cracks the Foundation Early 🌪️
So how does a child’s nervous system become stressed in the first place?
It’s rarely just one thing. It’s what we call the Perfect Storm—layers of stress that begin stacking early in life…sometimes even before birth.
Here’s how it builds:
🤍 Prenatal Stress
When a mom experiences physical, emotional, or chemical stress during pregnancy, that stress can travel through the umbilical cord and impact a baby’s developing nervous system.
👶 Birth Stress
Even natural, uncomplicated births place stress on a baby’s delicate spine and nervous system. When interventions like induction, epidurals, forceps, vacuum extraction, or C-sections are added, that stress can increase. Research shows up to 90% of newborns experience some level of spinal misalignment after birth.
🧠 Early Life Stressors
After birth, the storm often continues:
• Early illnesses
• Antibiotics
• Reflux & ear infections
• Environmental toxins
• Excessive screen exposure
• Pressure to “keep up” developmentally
Each stressor adds another crack to the foundation.
By the time parents notice delays, behaviors, or struggles, the nervous system may already be overwhelmed—stuck in stress mode and unable to regulate or coordinate the systems needed for healthy development.
✨ The good news?
When we understand the root, we can support the nervous system early—and help restore balance, regulation, and resilience.
