Alliance unions continue to stand strong for a fair contract and for national bargaining. ✊

Here is how Alliance Unions continue to stand united:

🔹 Coordinated Action: Alliance member unions have filed coordinated comprehensive ULPs. Ending national bargaining mid-stream is a clear unfair labor practice. ⚖️

🔹 Unified Rejection: Every Alliance union has rejected KP’s effort to divide us and end the national agreement. KP wrote to every local union proposing local bargaining on national issues—every Alliance union told KP NO and referred them back to our national bargaining committee. 🚫

🔹 A Path Forward: The Alliance bargaining committee has submitted a revised proposal. To move forward towards a National Agreement, the committee updated proposals on outstanding issues. It’s time for KP to come back to the National table so we can settle our contract. 🤝

Why this matters: We know that trying to take national issues and discuss them at 54 different local tables is a prescription for delay, confusion, and chaos. This doesn’t work for anyone, and will only drag out settlement, further delay pay raises, and undermine partnership.

While Kaiser continues to blast out updates filled with misinformation, we aren’t buying it-and neither should you.
We are staying engaged, staying focused, and staying united. No matter how hard they try to shake us, we will not be divided.

The message is simple: KP needs to stop the delay and bargain TODAY.

A Legacy of Life on the Rose Parade 🌹✨

This year’s Rose Parade float honored a hero very close to home: Katie Sedor, daughter of our own 28-year Kaiser CRNA and veteran, Valerie Sedor.

While Valerie has spent her career serving our members, Katie left behind the ultimate gift. Despite a lifelong battle with autoimmune disease, she chose at age 14 to be an organ donor—a decision that is changing the world today:

🌹A young boy is growing up with a healthy heart.
🌹A young girl and a woman have a second chance at life through her kidneys.
🌹Medical researchers are using her lungs and pancreas to find a cure for the diseases she fought so bravely.

Katie was known as a "protector of the vulnerable" and a loyal friend. We are proud to have Valerie in our KPNAA family and deeply respect the Sedor family for honoring Katie’s wishes. Her choice to donate reflects the person she was and continues to provide hope to others. 🕊️❤️

Last May, KP San Diego CRNAs Kelly Kuczwara and Paula Changsrivong took their expertise beyond the OR and across borders to Cusco, Peru. 🌎

Together, they donated 65 hours providing anesthesia for nearly 30 pediatric patients undergoing life-changing orthopedic surgeries. The work was challenging, meaningful, and deeply rewarding — a powerful reminder of the impact CRNAs make wherever care is needed most.

Their willingness to serve where care is needed most truly embodies the spirit of CRNA service. 💙

Earlier this month, the presence of KP SBC was truly felt at the KPNAA conference—and honestly, it always is. We consistently show up stronger than any other facility, especially for those attending for the first time. From Val organizing cards for Mike’s family, to Pa and Sam (and me!) presenting, to Belinda stepping into her role as president-elect—it was a powerful display of who we are.

So proud of this group and our continued commitment to advocating for what it truly means to be part of the best profession in the world. 💙

As we wrap up CRNA Week, we’re holding one of our own especially close to our hearts. Today, we honor the incredible life and legacy of our colleague and friend, Mike. 🤍

Mike was the heartbeat of our community. He was a powerhouse at the bargaining table, advocating for us with a passion and dedication. Beyond his leadership, he was:

✨A Leader & Mentor: Who led with wisdom and always lifted others up.

✨A Loyal Friend: Whose warmth turned colleagues into family.

✨ An Incredible CRNA: Who provided world-class care.

The impact Mike made on KPNAA is permanent. We are all better for having known him, and we carry his spirit with us into every OR. 🕊️✨

A special spotlight on Mark Gabot, DNP, CRNA. Dr. Gabot recently made history as the first CRNA in the nation to be named a Fellow of the American Society of Echocardiography.

From launching the POCUS curriculum at the Kaiser Permanente School of Anesthesia to leading national training through the AANA, Mark is defining what it means to practice at the highest level. We are incredibly proud to have his expertise and leadership within the KPNAA community!
