My mother once asked me, “If you had been born healthy, without congenital heart disease, how would your life be different?”
I answered, “I probably would have gotten married, raised kids in Japan, and lived an ordinary life—never coming to the U.S.”
That question made me reflect on why I chose to become a chiropractor. Growing up sick, I learned the importance of maintaining health, and it completely changed my outlook on life. As a child, a medical team treated me and supported my recovery, and I knew I wanted to give back someday—to help others as they had helped me.
When I discovered chiropractic, I was deeply inspired by the idea of using my hands to heal people. After my recent second surgery, I’ve set a new goal: to adjust 100,000 patients before I retire.
On a personal note, I also want to finish another sprint triathlon on 11/2/25. I’m back to training and jogging on the trail—and along the way, I even spotted SpaceX in the sky. It looks like a shooting star 💫 haha, I’m taking it as a lucky sign 🍀🚀.
