What is a deep plane facelift? 💬
👉🏼A facelift designed to rejuvenate the face by addressing sagging skin, wrinkles, and other signs of aging. Unlike traditional facelifts that mainly target the superficial layers of skin and tissue, a deep plane facelift works on a deeper layer known as the "deep plane" or "SMAS" (Superficial Musculoaponeurotic System).
👉🏼Here's how it works:
Incisions: The surgeon makes discreet incisions typically around the ear, sometimes extending into the hairline, to access the deeper facial tissues.
Repositioning: Instead of just pulling and tightening the skin, the surgeon repositions the SMAS layer, which includes the facial muscles and connective tissues. This repositioning lifts and redefines the contours of the face.
Fat Redistribution: In some cases, fat grafting or redistribution may be performed to restore volume to areas that have lost fat due to aging.
Excess Skin Removal: Excess skin is trimmed and carefully sutured to create a natural and rejuvenated appearance.
Incision Closure: The incisions are closed, and the recovery process begins.
Laser resurfacing: In some cases a deep plane facelift is followed by CO2 laser resurfacing
🖤The deep plane facelift provides a more comprehensive and longer-lasting result compared to traditional facelifts because it addresses not only skin laxity but also the deeper structures that contribute to facial aging. It can achieve a more natural and youthful appearance with less risk of the "windswept" or overly tight look sometimes associated with other facelift techniques.
