"Pure Barre has been a part of my life for over a decade—first as a client in 2012 at Pure Barre Carmel (which I now own!), then as a teacher and studio manager in Denver and Indy, and now as the owner of soon-to-be 3 studios. But what makes this journey even more special? Getting to share it with my mom, who takes class with me, and my three daughters, who have been along for the ride through three healthy pregnancies. The biggest benefits of Pure Barre Classic are isolation and definition of your muscles. There are both mental and physical benefits to this. You will find different positions with the goal to find your deepest working zone, and then move in a small range of motion from there. Modifications and options to both up and down level are a part of class. These are not only there to make it easier for you but to truly feel the work of each position and section the most effectively. The more you take class and the more you experience new positions, the stronger you will get, with the ability to hold on just a little bit longer. MOUNTAIN CLIMBERS DO BARRE.

Meet Robin, and soon-to-be 1500 club member, who recently climbed Mt. Kilimanjaro in Tanzania. She attributes so much of her strength to Pure Barre! We asked her about her Pure Barre journey and how it supports her on her climbs. Read on and drop some love for Robin in the comments!

"Pure Barre has been an integral part of my fitness and wellness life for over 10 years and counting. I love how Pure Barre has evolved over the years to offer several class formats, which balances a well rounded workout routine, with continued challenge.

I love all formats of Pure Barre, but I come back to the Classic format. It's the perfect workout whether I'm looking for a demanding class, or recovery. I've always favored the seat portion of class. I'm amazed at the new moves that come, to lend continued rigor.

Strengthening the intrinsic muscles with Classic, larger muscle groups with Define, cardiovascular fitness with Empower, recovery with Align, and a core focus in every format has directly impacted my mountaineering success. As well, single leg focus and balance has greatly helped with technical and challenging routes.

For Mount Kilimanjaro, it is the highest point in Africa, at 5,895 meters (19,341 feet). It is the highest free-standing mountain in the world. Though our summit route was non-technical (walk-up), the best known probability of reaching the summit is 66%. This is due to the high altitude.

With that, my training centered around weighted incline cardio exercise (stairs, treadmill), with an oxygen training mask (to mimic high altitude breathing), and Pure Barre (for leg and core strength, plus flexibility).

This paid off, for I had no concerns of my ability, and was able to focus on acclimatization during the climb. I experienced no AMS (acute mountain sickness), otherwise known as altitude sickness, and felt great over the whole ascent!

My next adventure is the Escalante Route in Grand Canyon National Park, where our trip will begin with descending the Hopi Salt Trail. The Little Colorado River at the bottom shows crystal blue water, an amazing scene.

Meet Barbara, a member at ! Barbara started her Pure Barre journey in 2016 and has taken over 1,100 classes since — Her love and dedication for Pure Barre, specifically Pure Barre Define, have helped her increase her bone mass over time. Check out Barbara's testimonial below:

"I began my Pure Barre journey on May 30th, 2016, and knew halfway through my first class that this was the workout I would stick with. After more than 1100 classes, my feelings have never wavered. I love all the teachers, the staff, and the sense of community I have found there.

I have gained many benefits at Pure Barre over the years, but a big one occurred during my last bone density exam. The results showed that I had gained 7.5% bone mass in my hip and thigh area, as well as 7% in my lower back. This is the direct result of adding Define to my schedule, which I have taken once a week every week since it was introduced. Both my doctor and I were thrilled!

Oh, and did I mention that I will be turning 75 this month!!!"

Meet Rodney, co-owner and teacher at Pure Barre Shadow Creek. What started as a post-surgery recovery plan for Rodney quickly evolved into a passion for movement, strength, and connection. In honor of Men's Health Month we share Rodney's story and the transformative impact of prioritizing health, embracing challenge, and building an inclusive fitness community.

"I first found Pure Barre in 2016, thanks to my wife, Maria, shortly after I had heart surgery. As part of my rehab, we started ballroom dancing to rebuild my strength and stamina. Around the same time, she discovered Pure Barre to improve her dancing. Once I saw the results she was getting, I decided to give it a try. After just one class, I realized this was a completely different kind of workout – muscles ached that I didn’t even know existed. I was hooked. Since my surgery, prioritizing my health has been non-negotiable, and Pure Barre has helped keep me on that path.

Fast forward to 2023: my wife and I were given the opportunity to purchase Pure Barre Pearland Shadow Creek. From the beginning, we knew we wanted to create something unique, a studio where everyone felt welcome and inspired. For me, that also meant stepping into the teacher role. I wanted to show that Pure Barre is truly for everyone, no matter your age, gender, or fitness level.

Teaching has been one of the most rewarding parts of the journey. Watching members – especially those who started in my Engage class – hit milestones and grow stronger has been incredible. It’s a reminder that we’re not just building strength, but a community.

One of the things I’m most proud of is the diversity we’ve cultivated in our studio and I’m grateful to work alongside an incredible team who help make it a place where everyone feels welcome and supported.

When it comes to my favorite format, Define is at the top of my list to both teach and take. It strikes the perfect balance between strength and movement, and it keeps me challenged every time.

For men’s health, I believe Pure Barre is a game-changer. It targets the small, stabilizing muscles that are often overlooked in traditional workouts. Learning how to activate those muscles has given me better control over my body and made me stronger overall.'
