Currently, in America, there are two types of surrogates: traditional and gestational. While gestational surrogacy is more prevalent, each type has its distinct advantages and disadvantages, which we'll explain 👉🏻

🤰🏼Gestational surrogacy is when a fertilized embryo is implanted into a gestational carrier to carry the resulting child/children to term but who has no genetic relationship to it/them. Gestational surrogates do not use their own eggs.

🤰🏻Traditional surrogacy is when the gestational carrier is genetically related to the embryo, which is implanted through artificial insemination, and relinquishes custody of the resulting child/children upon birth.

Numerous misconceptions exist regarding surrogate eligibility. Let's dispel these myths and clarify the truth! Here are 4 factors that DO NOT disqualify you from becoming a surrogate:

1. Being a single Mother: Marital status doesn't affect your eligibility. Single moms with a proven pregnancy record can be great candidates!

2. Having Your Tubes "Tied" : Having your tubes tied does not automatically disqualify you from being a surrogate. The process of surrogacy often involves IVF, where eggs are retrieved directly from the ovaries, bypassing the fallopian tubes.

3. Not having health insurance: While having insurance is beneficial, it's not mandatory. Surrogacy agreements usually cover pregnancy-related medical expenses.

4. Having Experienced a Miscarriage: Although enduring a miscarriage can be extremely challenging, it does not preclude the option of becoming a surrogate. Numerous agencies take into account your general health and pregnancy background when considering candidacy.

What do pineapples have to do with infertility?
The theory is that pineapple (especially the core) contains something called bromelain. Bromelain is an enzyme that helps us break down and digest our food. When taken on an empty stomach, bromelain can act as a blood thinner and an anti-inflammatory, and all of this may help an embryo implant into the uterus, but that hasn't been backed by studies. We do know, however, that inflammation is linked to many conditions that can negatively affect fertility, such as PCOS and endometriosis.
