Hi! Dr. Julie here! šŸ‘‹

Sharing a quick part of my protocol that helped me overcome my longstanding period pain and now part of my protocol to prevent a breast cancer reoccurrence.

SAY HELLO TO A HIGH DOSE OF FISH OIL!

This simple yet powerful supplement helped transform my journey with pelvic pain and endometriosis, and it continues to play a powerful role in my health to drop inflammation and boost my immune system to prevent experiencing breast cancer ever again.

At our clinic, fish oil has become a cornerstone recommendation for those navigating pelvic pain, painful periods and those with high inflammatory levels (AKA, most of our patients). High dose fish oil further helps with insulin regulation, heart health, brain health and mood stability. It’s a natural blood thinner as well which helps me, as I have the MTHFR genetic mutation putting me at a higher risk for blood clots.

Getting your OMEGA 3 levels up (anti-inflammatory) & OMEGA 6 levels down (inflammatory) is the name of the game.

These levels should be 1:1 when tested via blood.

Unfortunately, with The American Diet, the average ratio is a 1:20 in the US (Omega3:Omega6).😧

I personally take 4,000 units a day as I have a history of cancer and endo, which is an inflammatory pelvic pain diagnosis.

This dosage is effective for me, however, consult your own healthcare provider before starting this or any new supplement regimen to ensure it’s safe and appropriate for you.

See a snippet from the past: The DURAL TUBE.

The Dura is the ā€œsausage casingā€ around the brain and spaniel cored an every peripheral nerve that is composed of thick, dense, white, fibrous connective tissue.

After the dura surrounds your brain, it leaves the cranium/skull through the foramen magnum, where it also attaches circumferentially to the occiput. It then then makes it way down to the thoracic spine and attaches to T4-T6 and around then on down to attach to the tailbone.

It is responsible for protection of the brain and spinal cord and is also responsible for containing the cerebral spinal fluid.

Simply put, it creates a bridge between your brain and tailbone and acts as a tether to keep your spinal cord in place.

PTs and OTs... put this on your radar when treating patients with tailbone pain! It is very important to consider the positioning of the tailbone. If the coccyx is flexed, extended, side-bent, or rotated, what happens to the dural tube? It becomes yanked and pulled on, which ultimately affects every other area the dura attaches on to and can be a HUGE SOURCE for headaches!

If you are a PT, PTA, OT, OTA, Pelvic Floor PT, PT student, Chiropractor, Osteopath, or DO and want to level up your pelvic floor/ortho/visceral treatment for pelvic pain, our next course is coming up THIS WEEKEND (October 25-26) in Tustin, CA.

Menopause is more than just hot flashes…

Here is what most don’t talk about: the hormonal and age-related changes that affect your pelvic floor health.

As estrogen declines, tissues thin, collagen drops, muscles weaken, and support structures lose their resilience.

The result? Increased risk for leakage, vaginal dryness, painful s*x, bladder pain, prolapse, and more.

The good news? You’re not powerless.

A multifaceted approach: pelvic floor therapy, hormone support (when appropriate), lifestyle changes, and targeted s*xual wellness strategies can help you stay strong, supported, and comfortable through this transition.

If you’re entering or navigating menopause, this is your sign to get a pelvic floor evaluation.

Clinicians… Are your patients reporting low back pain, while also mentioning constipation and incontinence??

In this demo, this particular patient reported low back/lumbar spine pain for at least 2 years. As educators, it is our mission to connect the worlds of orthopedic and pelvic floor therapy. Historically, back pain was less often connected to what’s going on in the instestines… until now!!

Here, we are looking at the general mobility of the abdomen, small, and large intestines, more specifically the ability to slide the intestines to the left and to the right. In this case, we feel the colon seems ā€œstuckā€ and there is a small area on the bottom end where she is still a bit tender.

So, how do you treat this to improve those low back pain symptoms?

Learn about this in our upcoming course on pelvic pain!
October 25-26 in Tustin, CA.

Did you know that the position of the tailbone can affect urinary urgency?

If the tailbone is flexed, it will shorten all of the pelvic floor muscles that attach onto it and create pressure on the pelvic organs (i.e. the bladder!!).

Clinicians… if your patients are reporting urinary urgency, don’t forget to look at the coccyx!

This kind of detailed, whole-body assessment is key to creating real, lasting change for your patients, and that’s exactly what we’ll be diving into in our upcoming course The Pelvic Floor & More: Treatment for Pelvic Pain, happening October 25–26 in Orange County.

šŸ’” Lab-heavy, hands-on, and with a 3:1 student-to-instructor ratio, you’ll get one-on-one mentoring from master clinicians… not just another crowded lecture.

Spots are limited, so if you’re ready to take your treatment to the next level, this course is for you!

Front of the hip hurting? It might be your nerves.
⁣
Not all anterior hip pain is from muscles or joints. Sometimes, it’s nerve-related and often overlooked. Here are a few key players:⁣
⁣
🧠 Genitofemoral nerve – sharp or aching pain in the groin, inner thigh, or testicle/labia.⁣
🧠 Ilioinguinal nerve – pain or tingling along the groin crease, often after surgery or injury.⁣
🧠 Iliohypogastric nerve – discomfort near the lower belly or side of the hip.⁣
🧠 Femoral nerve – pain or weakness in the front of the thigh.⁣
🧠 Perineal nerve – sitting pain that wraps to the front of the pelvis.⁣
⁣
If your hip pain isn’t improving with stretching or strengthening, it might be time to look deeper. Nerves matter!
