From multiple surgeries to skiing on his 75th birthday — here’s how the Sapphire PT team made it possible for Steve:
“I had rotator cuff surgery because I fell onto my right shoulder at work. I did a complete tear on 2 tendons and a partial on 1 more. Back to PT.
John was awesome, as before, and Kelly, one of his interns, taught me some mental aspects of rehab from her experiences. I had been back to work for a few months, then, boom - March of 2024, super painful infection in my back hip.
It had been replaced in 2009, but it was metal on metal. The bone and metal had corroded badly. The procedure is called “hip revision surgery”. After a lot of antibiotics and 2 surgeries, and too much time using a walker, it was back to see John.
Recovery was very slow; I found it difficult to get one part of my body better without straining the other parts that were compensating for my weakness.
John is very patient and helped with all the issues that arose - Partial tears on other shoulder, knee that’s very mad, ankle that got twisted, etc.
So here is my update. I had my first ski ride on June 29, 2025. I’ve skied a lot since then, including my 75th birthday, better water this year. Doing deep water starts with both feet in and enjoying every ride with my family and friends.
Till next time.
Grip It, Hit It, and Rip It…
Thank you, John, and the crew of Sapphire Physical Therapy.”
