Fun Fact Friday!

Did you know nerve information can travel as fast as 275 and sometimes 350 mph? That's faster than some of the fastest racecars out there🏁. But not even close to the speed of electricity....💡

This includes both motor and sensory information that travels from the arms and legs through the spinal cord to the brain and back again.

We need this information to travel fast to allow us to make adjustments in our movement to adjust and avoid damage and injury or warn us of danger.

Happy Friday friends, make good choices!

I am starting a new 406 PT informational segment called 'Fun Fact Friday'. This will include facts about anatomy, kinesiology, and rehabilitation that may be interesting and/or informational to patients and viewers. Starting on this Friday the 13th, I will start with information on nerves...fitting.

•Nerves have an intolerance to stretch, compression, or entrapment. 😧

•They 'stretch' by improving their glide or movement throught your muscle and connective tissue system. This is called neural or dural flossing. 💪

•Slowly and carefully performing neural flossing improves issues with spinal tightness, tolerance to muscle stretch, reduces pain, and can improve sensation and nerve conduction to the brain. 🧠

•Contact 406 PT for more information and how this can benefit you and your performance. ⚡️

I never thought I would make it this far. Years of not feeling good enough left my self-esteem wrecked and abandoned. In a time where I was facing big life altering changes, I found a whisper of a voice that said 'you got this.' With that tiny voice and with help from my supporters I started my own business, potentially at my lowest point. I have continued to grow, expand, inspire, heal, and am truly grateful for all that I have encountered along the way. I have a referral base of previous patients that I have seen in my 20 years of being a PT, doctors and other medical personnel who only refer my way, friends and family who send my name and number along, as well as other PTs who graciously refer my way. Their trust in me is a huge honor. Am I good at paperwork? Still nope. But I can look every patient in the eye to correct their form knowing they are getting 100% of my attention without my nose being buried in a computer. Have I reached my full potential, still no, I am ready to soar. I'm hoping this reaches people so they know that they too have a tiny inner voice saying, keep going, chin up, you got this, dig deep, and aim high. ~LO

I had the pleasure of creating and discussing an injury prevention program with these softball athletes this winter. Injury prevention is crucial prior to beginning or switching seasonal sports, especially ones that require repetitive movement, heavy loading, or contact. What you do in the off-season sets you up for a greater chance of success with a reduced chance of injury. Starting the season with pain, restricted mobility, or sport-specific weakness leads to poorer performance, chance of injury, and frustration when the season starts. It's not too late to make sure you are on the right track. 🏃‍♀️⚾️🥎🎾🏌‍♂️

BIO

My name is Linsey Olson and I am the owner and primary Physical Therapist with 406 Physical Therapy. I am a local Missoulian and absolutely love what I do. I attended both Gonzaga University and the University of Montana for my education. I graduated with high honors from the University of Montana’s Physical Therapy program with a Master’s Degree in 2003. 406 Physical Therapy was developed due to my drive to provide the best care for my patients. The best way I know how to do this is to have independent operation so I can focus on 1:1 care and insert my vision and knowledge into every session. When I was looking for a location I absolutely fell in love with the Sweatshop Studio. Every aspect of this location is inspiring and feels like ‘home’. Working within a gym environment allows me to address the entire patient as well as create a lasting healthy lifestyle.
