✨Healthy Skin requires a Healthy Skin Barrier✨ Skin’s moisture barrier is part of what is known as the stratum corneum, the outermost layer of the epidermis. The moisture barrier’s job is to keep damaging elements, such as, irritants, bacteria, and pollutants out of our skin and retain hydration in our skin. When the barrier is damaged, by the lack of ceramides, it can not function properly which can result in skin dehydration, sensitivity, inflammation, irritation, itchiness, very dry scaly patches, acne, vulnerability to bacterial, viral, and fungal skin infection. When treating the skin for any condition it is important to first address the condition of the skin’s moisture barrier.
