I came into clinic today not sure about the power and internet situation after Wednesday night’s storm. Not only are all systems working perfectly, but I also received a delivery of clinic goodies from Theo’s aunt & uncle at !!! I simply did not have enough room in my carryon to bring that much sage back from powwow with us. I’m excited to smudge the space this morning and hang the dream catchers above each treatment table! It’s shaping up to be a beautiful day over here!

If you are still without power or internet due to the storm, feel free to stop by and charge your devices and use the WiFi during clinic hours. You can hang out in the lounge and get some free ear acupuncture for stress. I’m here until 5 today and 9:30-1 tomorrow (Saturday).

Whoop! Whoop! It's summer time! Which means concerts and Caras Park events and Pride and river floats! Just a friendly reminder that if you are a patient of mine (because of patient privacy and professional ethics), you have to be the one to acknowledge and initiate a social contact with me. I can't approach you first even if I see you first. So if I see you out and about (even at the grocery store), unless we already had a pre-existing social relationship before I started treating you, I can't be the one to say hi. I can't even acknowledge you or wave unless you go first. I'm not ignoring you! If you'd like to, please come say hello! If not, no worries. We're still good! 😎 ❤️🩷🧡💛💚💙💜🖤🤎

I've heard the requests and am pleased to announce that I am now in-network with Blue Cross Blue Shield of Montana and Pacific Source Health Plans.

I have also applied to Allegiance, Cigna, Mountain Health Co-op, Missoula County, and Aetna. Some of those can take a while to get approved, but stay tuned for news on when I can bill those insurances directly.

It's important to understand that just because you have health insurance, it does not necessarily mean your insurance will pay for acupuncture. But many plans in Montana have good coverage for it. I have a worksheet you can fill out when you call your insurance company to determine what your coverage is like and how much of a visit will be your responsibility vs. what your insurance will pay (see my website for the link to the form).

I continue to accept workers comp claims and motor vehicle accident claims. Those require a referral from your managing physician. Please reach out if you have any questions.

If you have a different insurance company, I will continue to be able to provide you a superbill so that you can seek reimbursement from your insurer.

Today I am thinking about growth and change. I’m thinking about how we are always in a phase of growing and developing–even into middle and older age. The thing is, we never stop. We might look similar year to year, but we were never designed to stay still, to remain the same. Change can be hard, but the consequences of never changing? Even worse. Breath helps keep me flowing with the changes that life continues to request of me. Breath in. Breath out. Curiosity about the changes. Embracing the fact that this will never change. Change is a constant.

This incredible portrait was taken at a massive point of change in my life. I was getting ready to start treating patients in intern clinic and I had just broken my leg severely enough that my plans had to radically shift. I was also prepping for a relocation from a noisy apartment in inner Portland to a gorgeous, secluded place in nature on Sauvie Island (while on crutches no less). It was a lot. And I had to dig deep for my resources to make it all happen. Weekly acupuncture helped heal my body and strengthen my inner fortitude. And to remind me to keep breathing through it all.
