The hinge isn’t just sagittal plane. 👀

If we only train hip flexion and extension, we’re missing a huge piece of how the body actually moves.

The pelvis and hips are designed for 3D motion. During a true hinge, the femur doesn’t just glide back — it subtly moves through internal and external rotation. That transverse plane motion helps:

• Create space in the hip joint
• Optimize pelvic floor length-tension relationships
• Improve load transfer through the pelvis
• Reduce compensations in the lumbar spine

When we lose hip IR/ER, the body will steal motion from the low back or hamstrings. That’s when we see lumbar muscle gripping, posterior hip pinching, or pelvic floor overactivity.

Real life and sport happen in the transverse plane — cutting, running, lifting, and swinging If we don’t train rotation, we’re underpreparing the system.

Sagittal strength matters.
But 3D strength is what makes it usable.

Train the hinge.
Train the rotation.
Train the system. 💪
