ABCs of ABA: K is for Key Reinforcers β
Reinforcers are rewards that motivate children to learn and practice new skills. These can be tangible, like a sticker or toy; social, like praise or a high-five; or activities, like a favorite song or game.
π‘ Why it matters: The right reinforcer makes learning fun and encourages children to stay engaged. By observing what motivates each child, therapists can tailor their approach so skills are learned more quickly and with greater confidence. Key Reinforcers are a simple yet powerful part of helping children succeed in ABA therapy.
