April is National Child Abuse Prevention Month.

This month, we are “Growing a Better Tomorrow for All Children, Together.”

61% of adults have had at least one adverse childhood experience?

There is hope. Through prevention strategies, we can decrease risk factors and increase protective factors:
Preventing ACEs could reduce the number of adults with depression by as much as 44%.

When parents were able to share ideas and talk about things that matter with their child, the child had a 12.55 times greater chance of flourishing compared to those who did not have this type of communication.

Join us in creating awareness of the work happening across South Dakota to know, respond, and prevent child maltreatment.

03/10/2021

Beginning March 15th, all providers in the outpatient mental health program of Dakota Counseling Institute will once more be available for in-office, in-person sessions, and our home based therapists will again be able to visit clients in their homes. This means that, while anyone wishing to receive services via Telehealth may continue to do so at this time, our staff will also be available for sessions in person. Our doors will continue to stay locked so anyone with a session at the office will need to call the front desk at (605)996-9686 upon arrival. We will also continue to implement safety precautions including taking temperatures, requiring clients and staff to wear masks, and cleaning regularly. Please feel free to call the office to schedule your next session. Thank you!

11/10/2020

Due to the rising COVID-19 cases in our area and our efforts to protect our clients and staff, we have come to the decision to resume all services via Telehealth until further notice. This means that appointments and services will continue to be provided although sessions will be taking place on a virtual platform rather than in person. We understand that this transition may cause additional feelings of uncertainty and would like to assure our clients that we will continue to provide supports and work with each individual to be seen via Telehealth. To schedule an appointment or intake, understand how Telehealth works, or receive assistance in setting up Zoom on your phone or other device, please call the office at (605)996-9686. We understand that this is a stressful time for our clients and will continue to provide services while doing our part to assure your safety! As conditions change, we will continue to share updates on our page. Thank you!
