Every year around this time a mama duck leads her babies from their nest to a nearby pond. This route is always through our parking lots. They follow her closely and it’s their first big adventure. Last week a mama duck was ran over crossing the street going by Wesley Acres. Her babies were rescued. I thought for sure it was the mama duck that comes through every year. However, last night a mama duck 🦆 came through our back parking lots like all the years before with her babies following. I was glad to find out that the mama that was ran over last week was not our regular duck.

So every year around this time we have a mama duck with all of her babies waddle through our parking lot and yard heading to their destination. Well yesterday the mama duck was run over crossing Havens street. Her babies (13 total) all made it across safely. Some people who witnessed this stopped and all the babies were caught. They are going to keep them warm and fed and then release them when they are ready. They would never survive on their own. I’m hopeful that this is not the same mama from years past.
