Let’s talk Frenectomies!! 😋🤩

This is a procedure done with our laser, in office, to remove excess tissue attached to the tongue and lips for better speech 👄, proper tongue function 👅 and for help guiding teeth🦷 into a better position . This procedure can be done as a baby or when we are older too. As a baby, getting a frenectomy done can dramatically help with latch when nursing. For one specific patient, aka Dr Jen’s niece, it helped a ton. Here is a patient testimonial from her mother.

“Dr. Jen Veurink recently helped my six week old daughter, Ellie; with her tongue and lip ties. When Ellie was drinking her bottle, she did so loudly and seemed to be swallowing a lot of air. She would frequently spit up after feeding and had a lot of discomfort from gas pain causing her to cry unconsolably. Dr. Jen took a look in her mouth and noticed a tongue and lip tie. She was able to take care of it with use of her in office laser. Ellie had no bleeding, and only cried for a moment. She was able to resume feeding right afterwards and had an immediate decrease in the amount of air she was getting while eating. It has now been two weeks since having her ties fixed and she is hardly spitting up after bottles and her cries from stomach and gas pain are gone! I was having to use gas drops after every bottle and I haven’t needed them in over a week! Happy Monday! It’s 😎

👨🏻‍⚕️Today we are introducing one of our doctors, Dr. Pierce Smith. He is originally from Alexandria and currently resides there with his wife Ashley and two kids, Shea and Corby.

🦷Dr. Pierce first got interested in the dental field when he went through orthodontic care at a young age, and saw the impact a beautiful smile could truly make on a person. Fast forward a few years, he committed to Creighton University in Omaha for dental school.

🪥Dr. Pierce has been with us for 3 years now and specializes in sleep apnea and coordinating oral appliances. If you know him, you know his welcoming presence, willingness to help and his down-for-anything attitude! Thanks Dr. Pierce for all you do for us 💙

🤓According to a national survey, approximately 20% of American adults are actually flossing daily. That may explain why more than 50% of American adults have periodontal disease!!

🦠 The unfortunate part is we don’t see the effects of not flossing right away. But underneath the surface, our body is fighting inflammation and bad bacteria. Our body can only do so much before the bacteria growth gets out of hand. It starts to compromise not only our teeth and the bone in our jaw, but our entire body.

👄The mouth is the gateway to our body. If there is disease and inflammation in our mouth, there is disease and inflammation in our body.

🦠The bacteria spreads through our bloodstream and contributes to heart disease, stroke, diabetes, dementia/ Alzheimer’s and even pregnancy complications!!

🦷Flossing is serious 🧐 It is a tool to help our body fight bacteria that causes inflammation, which can lead to disease.

❤️Do yourself and your body a favor and use flossing as a powerful tool to protect and prevent disease.

It’s time to 🌟CIRCLE BACK🌟 to Dr. Jens toothpaste aka a nontoxic tooth brand we carry at the Dental Care Center.

So, flashback⏪ to February when we learned about Dr. Jens toothpaste and the power of natural remineralizarion with nanohydroxyapatite.

🧑‍🔬🧐The company of Dr. Jens toothpaste has done ample research and trials with the super paste toothpaste that contains fluoride,  nanohydroxyapatite and xylitol. They found that when using the product correctly, it can reverse the decay process in teeth.
