Transforming your smile with Invisalign is easy! It starts with a 3D scan and photos of your teeth, which we would do on National Align Your Teeth Day.

Dr. Jen then creates your individualized case and treatment plan.  When you say yes to Invisalign, it includes all the aligners, attachments, appointments, retainers and whitening!! We average start to finish in about a year! In comparison to traditional braces, patients are in those for about two years. Compliance is key with Invisalign, because wearing the aligners for 22 out of the 24 hours in a day is crucial. However, Invisalign is convenient because it makes cleaning your teeth throughout treatment easy!! You don’t have to worry about wires and metal brackets to clean around.

If you are wanting to transform your smile today, call us to schedule on National Align Your Teeth Day, August 11th, 2025. 605-996-1223

🦷Invisalign is a clear aligner system that moves the teeth over time to create straight and properly functioning teeth as an alternative to traditional metal braces.

🦷The system uses custom made, removable, transparent trays and clear attachments to help rotate and move teeth into a more desirable position. Patients usually wear each aligner for one to two weeks before moving to the next in the series to gradually move the teeth. Patients can expect on average 10-12 months of treatment.

🦷Invisalign is user friendly because it allows for easier cleaning and eating in comparison to traditional braces.

🦷When you sign up with Invisalign, the system includes all the appointments needed to complete treatment as well as whitening gel and Invisalign’s name brand Vivera retainers.

🦷Invisalign is for a wide age variety and is such a great way to improve your smile. Call today to save your spot for a free consultation on August 11th 2025.

Mouth taping has become a new trend recently and is catching fire. 🔥 The reason being that many people suffer from mouth breathing and new research sheds light on diseases stemming from such.

Mouth taping sounds barbaric and kind of scary at first, but the premise behind it is quite genius.🤓 The simple act of taping the mouth shut at night, while sleeping, trains our body to nasal breathe. 😤When we nasal breathe, we eliminate possibility for many diseases like high blood pressure, sleep apnea and even tooth decay.

When mouth taping, look for medical grade tape to prevent irritation of facial skin. You can find a variety on Amazon. Apply the tape vertically at first. This allows for some air to come in and out the sides of the lips to ease into training for nasal breathing.  When this feels comfortable, try flipping the tape horizontally for maximum nasal breathing. 🤐

While mouth taping is a great tool, it is not for everyone. 🛑If you have sleep apnea, nasal blockages, difficulty breathing through your nose, heart or lung problems and/ or panic disorders mouth taping may not be for you.

✅Please consult your Dentist or Doctor to see if it is right for you.

Mouth taping is generally a great holistic tool and can be a wonderful wellness resource. 👃👄

Happy Monday!

This week we are introducing Chandler. She is one of our hygienists and has been with us for 4 years.

🌸She is a Mitchell native and found her love for the dental field as she grew up going to her 6 months cleanings. When she got braces she was more intrigued and followed that passion to hygiene school.
🌸Chandler is our mega dog lover at the DCC and has the cutest little dog clan.
🌸When asked her favorite piece of advice she said,  “A loss is only a loss if you fail to learn from it.”

💗Thanks Chandler for all you do for us🫶🏽

🛑STOP what you are doing for a quick test: sit for 2 minutes and see if you can breathe through your nose. Is it uncomfortable?
✅If yes, it may be a sign that you are a mouth breather. Adults who mouth breathe are more likely to snore and/or grind their teeth and often struggle with sleep disruptions.

💤Sleep apnea is when breathing gets interrupted during the deep stages of sleep. As we approach the deep stages of sleep, the muscles that normally keep the airway propped open enter a deep state of relaxation. The tongue relaxes and falls back at the top of your throat. The airway then becomes more narrow. When we have preexisting conditions, our airway can become so narrow that we stop breathing.

🆘Some 🚩red flag🚩 warning signs include (but not limited to):
☑️overweight
☑️thick necks
☑️large tongue/ tonsils
☑️small, narrow neck
☑️small mouth or slim jaws
☑️grinding
☑️snoring
☑️waking up tired or with headaches
☑️frequently urinating at night
☑️tossing and turning during sleep

🤯It is likely that up to 80% of the population currently has some form of sleep apnea that has not been diagnosed.
🤓Fun fact: One night of interrupted sleep wreaks havoc on our energy levels, mood, and hormone regulation. Years of interrupted sleep accelerates the aging process and makes us more susceptible to all kinds of disease like high blood pressure, stroke, diabetes, obesity, depression and more.

🤓Fun fact #2: Reaching the deep sleep state is missed when sleep apnea occurs. Deep stage sleep is when human growth hormone is released. This controls various functions in the body, ranging from tissue repair, healing, and repair of the brain. Missing out on deep stage sleep and human growth hormone speeds up the aging process and makes us depressed, tired, overweight, and much more prone to disease.

✳️Did you know that at the Dental Care Center, we can help with this⁉️
✅Our Dentist, Dr. Pierce Smith is trained in sleep dentistry. If you have mild to moderate sleep apnea, we can make an oral appliance that helps to position the lower jaw forward, to open the airway and eliminate breathing interruptions to allow for deep, restful sleep. 😴
