✨ Orange County Su***de Awareness & Prevention Month ✨

Today begins an unforgettable month of bringing su***de awareness and prevention front and center for Orange County.

We start with a powerful statement: the Orange County Courthouse will be lit in purple to honor lives lost and shine a light of hope. Following this, WUME will air a special segment featuring Catherine Henderson and Greg Walker, both courageously sharing their stories and the importance of working together to stop su***des.

Throughout the month, you’ll also hear heartfelt messages from Clara and Colton Henderson, and every county library will receive a new collection of books designed to support healing after su***de loss and promote prevention resources.

On September 13th, our community will come together at Paoli Community Park for a one-of-a-kind Awareness Walk & Community Event. As we walk/run the path, we will unite in remembrance, resilience, and hope. During this event, we’ll also reveal a meaningful new initiative in partnership with Davey Henderson, the Orange County Sheriff’s Department, and Catherine Henderson.

We extend our deepest gratitude to those making this month of events possible: Catherine Henderson, Davey Henderson, Jamie Walker, Dr. John Keesler and our Orange County Commissioners.

Together, we are committed to preventing su***de across all ages, with a special focus on protecting and supporting our youth. 💜

Happy National Library Card Sign-Up Month! Kids and teens can find all of the library characters in the children's department for a prize!

FREE transportation is available in Orange, Crawford, and Dubois counties!!
We are working to expand our transport to Lawrence county as well, hopefully as soon as September!!

Transportation remains a significant barrier to people trying to get back on their feet, especially in rural areas with limited public transit options.

Do you know how to crochet and want to be around other people that do too?
Join us Friday, September 26 from 5:00 to 6:00.
Have a project that you need a little motivation to finish? Do you get lonely working on your projects at home? Just want a little company? Join your fellow crocheters at the Library for an hour of crocheting and chatting.
Knitters and other Fiber Artists are welcome as well.
Some basic instruction can be provided if needed.
Registration is required and may be done at the circulation desk or by calling the library at 812-358-2853.
