This dude had no pack, a little plastic water bottle, and like 2 things of chewy gels in his pocket. Bro did the 50k in 80 degrees and beat me!! He didn’t even have headphones. I don’t know whether I’m impressed or if I hate him 😅

Not that I wished for him to pass out or anything…but how did he defy the laws of nature with regards to heat and hydration and fuel??! He will be one of those annoying people that survives the apocalypse with nothing but a stick and luck.

Turning 40 is all it’s cracked up to be and more

Honestly….it started pretty much as terrible as a year could start…
Separated, desperate, unsure of the future.
I’m still unsure because how can you ever know what will happen?

You can’t…You have to trust.

You have to have faith.

You have to just love yourself and keep stepping forward every. Damn. Day. And eventually things become more clear.

Prayers have been answered, friends have stepped in, “friends” have stepped away….and I weathered it all with loving on my baby boy (who turned 6 today), running lots and lots of miles, completing 3 races including an ultra marathon and standard marathon, moving into my own place all on my own, and never ever giving up.

I chopped off my hair (like 5 people noticed lol), I met amazing people, i learned so much about myself and ultimately…I have zero regrets.

I kept running toward the light at the end of the tunnel and while I don’t fully feel like the tunnel has ended, I do feel like I’m not afraid of the dark anymore.

Started with you baby and ending with you and that’s all I need 💙💙

2 weeks post ultramarathon and here are my thoughts as I begin training cycle for the next one:
It’s easy to stick with what’s easy or what we’re good at.
But how do we grow if we don’t push ourselves past what’s easy? How do we know what we’re capable of if we don’t even try?
It helps that running helps process trauma. That was motivation enough. Everything else was a plus
