We service the City Limits of Moberly by enforcing current ordinances and state laws. This is the official page for the Moberly, MO Animal Shelter.

We are licensed by the Department of Ag as a City Dog Pound, Unfortunately WE DO NOT ACCEPT CATS as we do not have the proper set up to care for their many needs. Welcome and please read the RULES of the page. Thanks for stopping by! We’re a City Dog Pound, and we ask that you follow a few simple rules while you’re here:

3. We understand that opinions may differ regarding breed standards, rules, practice policies or procedures. Please keep comments positive and productive, and reflect responsible pet ownership.

4. Please represent yourself truthfully. No fake profiles or false organizations.

5. Our main goal is to find loving homes for dogs that are left behind and to care for them in the best way possible while they are under our care. Please share our posts so lost dogs can be reunited and those not claimed can find new homes. The Moberly Pound is also Animal Control. The staff members help both Humans and Animals and also run, clean, and adopt animals to new loving home. All dogs adopted from this facility are FULLY vetted including HW Test and Microchip as added care. We serve the City Limits of Moberly ONLY. When a dog is picked up as a stray it is put on 5 Day Stray Hold. This hold period is per the Department of AG Guideline, after the hold period ends the dog becomes the property of the animal shelter. The HOUNDS Program (This program is for SHELTER DOGS ONLY and is not available to the general public- All dogs entering this program are Spayed/ Neutered, Up-To-Date on all their shots and Flea/ Tick/ Worm Medicine, Heartworm Tested & Micro-Chipped and sent to the Moberly Correctional Center to be taught Basic Obedience by the Inmates. The Program is 8 Weeks Long. How to Reclaim Your Dog:
We ask that you bring a Collar And Leash of your own when when you come to claim a lost dog or adopt a dog. You will also need to bring CASH OR CHECK for the impound fees along with a copy of your drivers license and Proof of Ownership ( Vet Records in your name) The impound fee is $25.00 initial intake then $8.00 per day for each day the dog is here. After 5 days the dog becomes the property of the animal shelter and will be adopted out.

Anyone recognize this dog? Was stated to have been found by the post office. He is safe and warm for the weekend but if you know his owner please let us know as soon as possible.

Update: Patsy and Chase have left the building to a forever home. Blue has so many applications we are working through them and attempting to set up times for meet and greets. BUT don't let that stop you from putting you application in for him!

This little was found wandering the streets and brought to the shelter - she is microchipped but her owners information is not up to date. Her last known owner was Sammie Richardson but we do not have a good contact number for her, if you know her please have her reach out to us at 660-833-7330

Our Story

Moberly Animal Shelter is both the Shelter and Animal Control. The Shelter provides services for dogs within the city limits of Moberly, MO.

Staff members care for the dogs that are currently in the shelter along with catching dogs that have wandered too far or have been left to fend on their own, we also handle neglect and abuse cases.

SHELTER/ANIMAL CONTROL HOURS:

Monday & Tuesday 8:00am- 4:00pm.

Wednesday - Saturday 8:00am-6:00pm.

Sunday - 12:00pm-6:00pm.

Volunteer Hours

Wednesday- Friday 11:00am- 4:00pm

Saturday - 11:00pm-4:00pm.

Interested in looking at our dogs available for adoption?

Please visit between the following hours.

Monday & Tuesday 1:00pm to 3:00pm

Wednesday - Friday 1:00pm to 4:00pm

Saturday 11:00am - 3:00pm

Sunday 1:00pm - 4:00pm

We accept adoption applications at any time but all adoption decisions/applications are reviewed Monday-Friday 8am to 3pm. If visiting on the weekends you will be asked to come back during the week for meet and greets with current pets and family members.

STRAY HOLD: Dogs picked up as strays are placed on a 5 (five) day hold. If a dog is not claimed by their owner after the hold period it becomes property of the shelter. Owners may claim their dog anytime after 11:00 am during normal business hours.

HOLD FEES: $15.00 initial impound fee then $5.00 per day after The hold fee is assessed for any dog that is picked up and then claimed by the owner.

When claiming a dog please be prepared to show current proof of vaccines, the fine for no rabies vaccine is $92.00. If your dog is not current on vaccines you will have 10 business days to show proof, if proof is not submitted you will be issued a citation for no rabies tag. We will also need a copy of your drivers license.

Things to know before picking out or picking up your new companion:

If you currently have a dog(s) we will require a meet and greet with your dog(s) and any family members residing in the home. This is to ensure that everyone is compatible, the last thing we want is for you to have to bring them back!

Please be prepared to provide proof of current vaccines for any dogs currently living in your household.

Please bring your own leash and collar as the ones we have are on limited supply.
