Just Because Day! What better reason to have a Popsicle Party than “Just Because”.
Fun Popsicle Facts-
Popsicles were invented by an 11 year old boy named Frank Epperson in 1905. He accidently left a sugary soda mixture with a stirring stick in it outside overnight. That night temperatures in San Francisco reached a record low. The next morning Frank discovered it had frozen creating a fruit flavored ice treat he named “Epsicle”. 18 years later he patented it & called it the “Popsicle”.
The original 7 flavors were cherry, root beer, lemon, orange, grape, banana & watermelon. Today you can find unique flavors such as bacon, ketchup, avocado and pickle, to name few. There are over two billion popsicles sold every year, with the best selling flavor being cherry.

With the World Series coming up here’s some fun facts: the Astros last championship was 2022 they’ve had 5 World Series appearances. The Royals last championship was 2015 and they’ve have 4 appearances. Finally St Louis Cardinals last championship was in 2011 and they’ve had a total of 19 appearances in the World Series!

The Fun Committee hosted “Best Photo “ contest for World Photography Day. Each photo submitted was taken by a Valley View employee. Residents, staff and visitors voted for their favorite. 1st place with Best Photo went to Connie White, Valley View’s Dietary Manager, with a picture of her Shih Tzu Benny. Congratulations Connie!

When you need to relax you fish, when you can’t fish you play with gold fish!
The staff enjoyed a break on this hot August day with a Minute to Win It game of “ Go Fish”. Staff had 1 minute to transfer fish from one pond to another with nothing but a straw. Winners are pictured with their prize of a tasty bag of worms.
