This year is our third annual facilitation of 'How I Wear My Crown', a two-day multi-sessions event, where black women have an opportunity to look at their traumas and oppression, discuss who they are outside of oppression, learn how to advocate for self and learn how to use art as a vehicle for advocacy. This year, we are extending the invitation to teens. Any young woman, ages 12 and to 18 will be able to participate in this experience with us.

On October 14th & 15th, How I Wear My Crown will be held at Bishop State Community College Advanced Manufacturing Technology Center. This event is FREE with LIMITED AVAILABILITY, so please register to secure your spot. Saturday is a dedicated safe space to black women. Time will be spent discussing health communication, advocacy, creating a container for vulnerability and learning about health disparities in the Black community. On Sunday, we will continue our conversations on health advocacy, our stories, and end with a brunch and special presentation.

Please feel free to share with your circle, family, friends, and community members.

Won’t God do it!

Two national partnerships (More about this testimony later)!!! But let me just say, it was Black women. Each and every time. Punching above their weight class because they love us so much.

These beautiful Queens heard us. They started imagining a place for us to feel joy. Then a whole garden idea emerged. This is where you could rest and be well. This garden is an edible garden with fruit trees, herbs and flowers. And a sign will be erected that says:

This garden is presented as a gift of love to Black Women and their families. Your wellness, wealth and joy is our greatest legacy.

Come early for YOGA in our garden at 9 am with

Tag a Nurse 💙

Black nurses make up an informal web of care in Black communities. Most of us know a nurse who we can call on for help navigating through our health issues. And this mattered more then we can ever express during COVID. Without Black Nurses we wouldn’t be here today.

Join , as we discuss mental health and resiliency with Black Nurses! And we are bringing our homegirl back!! to do what she does best, pour love and joy into us.

Dear Society- ⠀

We are taking the remainder of 2020 off. ⠀

This past week, we closed out our fall session [swipe to see the session list] of the year on Thursday with a community design session for our Monument Project.⠀

During the session, we focused on celebrating Black Women in the Souths’ culture of care and the ways we find safety inside of that care. ⠀

We shared that our safe places are when we are warm and wrapped in blankets, when we are near bodies of water and when we are in nature. We talked about the secret hiding places of our youth and how nowadays our culture of care is found in practical places like the car or in the bathroom - lol 😂. ⠀

Wherever and whenever, we reminded one another that we must care for our hearts. It’s true, Black lives matter when they are able to rest. ⠀

See you in 2021 ✨✨🙏🏽⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
The laying on Indigenous Muscogee Creek Nation land. Most of the Muscogee people were forcibly removed by the US federal government from their original lands in the 1830s during the Trail of Tears. Then this land was plantation land. This place is where her Ancestors were enslaved for centuries. Now Clayton County, Georgia. The County that was pivotal in flipping this state to Blue. “Resting peacefully because I know who I am and where I come from. “⠀

When we started the foundation - Society of Clotilda - we knew that in order to hold all the blessings coming our way, we would have to heal. ⠀

Healing from the impacts of the transatlantic slave trade, from the violence and trauma it taught us, requires that we pull from a depth only found in our culture and from a beauty only seen in our resilience. We knew that this work needed to be about each of us finding our joy. ⠀

We are excited to partner with The Kinfolks Effect (TKE) Studio to create Society of Clotilda Monuments: Benches for Black Women’s Joy and Wellness.⠀

TKE studio is the collaboration of artist muthi reed and cultural strategist Sage Crump and is an incubation space for multimedia interdisciplinary artwork that examines the movement of Blackness through time and space. ⠀

Join us on December 3rd for a Community Design Session - everyone is welcome. Register by texting CROWN to 33777 ⠀

I will not die an unlived life.
I will not live in fear
of falling or catching fire.
I choose to inhabit my days,
to allow my living to open me,
to make me less afraid,
more accessible;
to loosen my heart
until it becomes a wing,
a torch, a promise.
I choose to risk my significance,
to live so that which came to me as seed goes to the next as blossom, and that which came to me as blossom, goes on as fruit.

The Society of Clotilda is answering the call to bring more imagination, healing and advocacy around the intersection of racial oppression, gender violence and public health. Join us in this work...

Grounded Talk///

We are conditioned, as women, to think that the problems are ours to solve alone. We are expected to sacrifice, change and improve for the better of others not necessarily for our own reasons.

And yet, there is deep self care and growth inside of change. We truly want to heal from the oppression and trauma surrounding us. We want things to be better. So we do the work. And instead of the self work bringing us closer together, we are becoming more disconnected from the man/husband/brother/father/uncle/friend.

How do we bring our beloved men folks into this place of joyful healing?

on HBO gifted us with Black girl sci-fi horror heroines. And we give thanks 🙏🏽

This show is a love letter that show runner made as a testament to the spirit of Black people as they always find a way to conquer adversity. What’s really moving for us at the Society are the dynamic characters of women. Through them, we understand the resistance and resiliency that Black women holds. Each episode reminds us that we are universal magic.

🔥 Definitely recommended.

We are all about healing at the Society. Have you been tapping into the healing power of plants? Plants don’t only beautify your home— they promote healing too. For example, the luscious scent of lavender aids in a good night’s sleep. There are different plants that lower stress and provide a breath of fresh air to ones that bring joy, boost brainpower, and help you communicate.

10/22/2020

When President Obama took office he brought a historic amount of Black women into leadership positions at the White House. It made headlines. But we know that simply being in the room doesn’t mean you are listened to. To change that, the women created a strategy to amplify one another simply by echoing what the other women said. And it worked!

What if we took the same approach when it came to matters of domestic violence or sexual assault? What if we amplified other womens voices with intention and purpose?

Please join us [ October 24 @ 10 AM] in conversation w/ Melanie Bridgeforth, President and CEO of The Womens Fund, where she is accelerating economic opportunities through philanthropy, research and advocacy.

Society Of Clotilda

Society of Clotilda is a joyful health and wellness collective that is dedicated to the celebration, development, and prosperity of Black Women and their children. Our vision is to reduce the high rates of trauma, domestic violence, depression and sexual assault due to global-systemic racism, poverty and interpersonal sabotage at the hands of the criminal justice system by building a new community practice rooted in joy and empowerment.

What Are We Doing

This is unlike anything you’ve seen before, a social enterprise that mixes Mardi Gras and Black Girl Magic to solve a public health crisis. Rooted in deep joy, Society of Clotilda is a parade experience centered on black women that uses its proceeds to support our national wellness programs for black women and their children. With thousands of monthly subscribers, we will connect black women online and in-person with actionable tools to take command of their lives and their communities’ financial and emotional health.
