Colin Buckley, MD, general surgeon, joins Infirmary Surgical Specialists. Dr. Buckley will provide a broad range of surgical services including laparoscopic and open procedures, robotic surgery, cholecystectomy, appendectomy, thyroidectomy, colectomy, hernia repair, breast surgery, skin and soft tissue procedures.

Dr. Buckley is a graduate of the University of La Verne, La Verne, California, with a Bachelor of Science in Biology. He is the recipient of the 2022 Graduate of the Last Decade (GOLD Star) Award, which recognizes alumni who embody the University of La Verne's core values. He earned his doctor of medicine degree from the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Dr. Buckley completed his residency in general surgery with USA Health University Hospital.

🇺🇸 Dr. Buckley is also a veteran of the United States Army where he served on multiple deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan. A member of the premier infantry special operations unit, 1st Ranger Battalion, his decorations include the Ranger Tab, Parachutist Badge, Combat Infantryman Badge, and Purple Heart.

Isaac Payne, D.O., general and colorectal surgeon with Infirmary Surgical Specialists, recently spoke with Lenise Ligon of Fox10 News to discuss colorectal cancer prevention, detection and treatment of the disease.

Among cancers that affect both men and women, colorectal cancer is the third leading cause of cancer deaths in the United States, according to the American Cancer Society. Colorectal cancer affects people in all racial and ethnic groups and is most common in people age 50 and older. Routine testing can help prevent colorectal cancer or even find it in an early stage when it is smaller and easier to treat.

Dr. Jimmie G. Gavras, M.D., is a general surgeon with Infirmary Surgical Specialists at the Thomas Hospital location. He also practices with Infirmary Cancer Care (ICC) in Fairhope.
Along with caring for his patients in Baldwin County, Dr. Gavras has been a physician champion for women’s health at Thomas Hospital. He serves as the chair of the committee for ICC’s accreditation through Commission on Cancer and as a member of the committee for the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers, helping the team to achieve multidisciplinary, integrated, comprehensive breast cancer services.
