It was an honor and a joy to be apart of the Emergency Infant Feeding Specialist team with NCBfC SAFE Infant Feeding .

Women and children have a 14x greater mortalilty risk related to the effects and aftermath of natural distasters. It is crucial to provide safe feeding education and resources for those without power and/or clean water, especially when the air and soil are polluted.

Stephanie and I are very thankful to those that donated supplies or money to allow us to bring necessities to many families. The SAFE team distributed about 500 safe feeding kits prior to our arrival, and we were able to provide over 100 additional kits. 👏🏼🙌🏼. We couldn’t have made that possible without our community support!!! A big thank you to each and every person that supported our mission to provide to those affected by Hurricane Helene!!

❗️Safe Infant Feeding Kits ❗️

URGENT NEED. There are over 50 locations in NC in desperate need of these specific supplies!!

🩵We leave Wednesday afternoon. On October 16th. We plan to deliver these items and will be “boots on the ground” for several days assisting babies and families!!

✅Supplies Update: Every single supply kit must be approved prior to distributing to families. You must be trained in emergency infant feeding safety in order to distribute and educate on the significance of keeping items clean. Part of the evaluation we will discuss with each person is the significance of their situation to ensure they have exactly what they need. This is truly an unfathomable idea for many of us to ever worry about.

Supplies for kit:
Storage bin with Lid (shoe box size)
Baby bottle brush
Dawn dish soap (6oz or smaller to fit in kit)
Pump cleaning wipes (these are so expensive, please donate if you can part with a new pack you may have around the house)
Wash cloths
Small Paper Cups - 3oz - these are hard to find locally.
Bleach - must be disinfecting (Clorox) - regular beach. No scent or “non splash”

Item most in need: Pump cleaning parts.

Mobile peeps: ive cleared out all the pump cleaning wipes at Walmart on I-65 and the one at Schillinger and both targets in Mobile. 😅

For those that are interested in donating financially to support cost of supplies, here is the link:

A big thank you to everyone that has donated!! We’re looking forward to delivering these items to families. 🫶🏻🫶🏻

Hi!! My name is Brandi, and I am the owner and lactation consultant of Bay Area Breastfeeding. I am teaming up with Stephanie of Bay Magnolia Lactation to collect supplies to take to South GA and the Asheville, NC area.

In response to the devastation caused by Hurricane Helene, we've partnered with the North Carolina Breastfeeding Coalition and to provide essential supplies for infant feeding during an emergency!! We are collecting supplies for Safe Infant Feeding Kits and other infant needs. The storm has severely impacted infrastructure, leaving many families with limited access to basic necessities, including infant feeding supplies.

We will serve in the area, educating and supporting families and volunteers in safe feeding practices when there is no electricity or clean water. On our way to NC, we plan to drop off some infant supplies in South GA. I’ve been in contact with a Lactation Consultant who has also stated a desperate need in her surrounding counties.

All donations will go directly to families affected by Hurricane Helene.

Items Needed for Safe Infant Feeding Kits:

1. Plastic Totes with Lids: (shoebox size) These totes will hold all the cleaning and feeding supplies and can double as a dishpan or clean storage for families.
2. Liquid Dish Soap (3 oz or smaller):
3. Bleach (1.43 quarts or smaller): MUST BE REGULAR Bleach. Non plash. No added ingredients. Bleach is essential for disinfecting feeding items
4. Bottle Brushes
5. Sanitizing Bags/Gallon Zip Lock Bags
6. Small paper dixie cups
7. Pump Cleaning wipes
9. Wash cloths

There is not enough man power to distribute non urgent items at these locations. They request only urgent items listed or similar to. Thanks everyone!!
