Oh how we just love seeing families grow! Today it was a blessing to be able to see sweet Frances at her first visit. Even better was seeing Nurse Denise holding baby Frances too as she was Jack’s (Dads) nurse as he was growing up and seeing Dr. Sands as his Pediatrician. Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) is a common virus that can cause serious respiratory illness, especially in babies and some toddlers.

⏩️ RSV is usually common in the late fall through early spring months.

⏩️ It is the leading cause of hospitalization for babies before their first birthday.

⏩️ The virus affects the lungs and airways and spreads easily through the air and by physical contact with the germs.

⏩️ Babies who become infected with RSV can get much sicker than older kids because their lungs and airways are so tiny.

⏩️ There are now immunizations to protect babies from severe illness during RSV season.

⏩️ You can choose RSV immunization during pregnancy, or your baby can be immunized after they are born.

⏩️ Most infants will likely only need protection from the maternal RSV vaccine or the infant immunization, but not both.

Here at PAOM we only have the vaccine for babies available. If you would like more information, please call us at 251.344.1502 and ask to speak with one of our nurses that could offer our parents with additional information and even schedule an appointment for your baby.

Hard to believe that Summer Break is over and we are beginning a new school year. Here at Pediatric Associates of Mobile, USA Health we hope that your children’s school year is full of new adventures and we look forward to continuing serving our families.

📌 Dr. Scarbrough is a Mobilian at heart. He graduated with his Doctor of Medicine from the University of South Alabama and completed his pediatric training and residency here at USA Children’s and Women’s Hospital.
📌 He has worked with children for as long as he can remember.
📌 He is passionate about providing compassionate, comprehensive care to children of all ages.
📌 Dr. Scarbrough is accepting new patients plus is able to see existing patients if your child’s doctor is not available.
