In an abundance of caution, our office will be closing tomorrow at 12pm. For clients scheduled after that time, you will be contacted with more information for rescheduling. For clients already scheduled prior to that time, you will be contacted by your provider if any changes occur.

Please reach out today if you have any questions or concerns! We will be sure to post any updates if our schedule changes again due to the aftermath of Tropical Storm Francine.

We hope that everyone stays safe!

Worry stones.

What are they, and what do they do?

Worry stones have existed for centuries in many different cultures, dating back to ancient Greece, Ireland, and indigenous tribes in North America. While there are variations in the types of stones and their particular purpose, today worry stones are most commonly viewed as any stone with a smooth, flat surface. In times of worry, stress, and anxiety, the repetitive motion of rubbing the stone soothes and helps to relax. Anxious energy can be directed to the stone as an outlet. All that to say, worry stones are an early, historical version of a fidget!

Feeling safe is an essential need we all have. There's a reason that in Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs it is at the base of the pyramid, our foundation.

There are many types of safety, varying from food security/insecurity to meaningful relationships and even to mental safety.

Safety can look different from person to person, so we want to know what safety looks like to you! What does it mean to be safe?

I love this quote by Kid Cudi, because he is right, peace and happiness are deserved!

As a therapist, it is incredibly important to me to be aware of the historically traumatic relationship between mental health treatment and the black community. It is my mission to be better and do better, because everyone deserves access to empathetic and quality care regardless of the color of their skin. The black community (along with us all) deserve to be treated with dignity, respect, and care when in the past it has been the opposite. I want to acknowledge that when someone comes in to see me, they are placing their trust in me, and I will never take that for granted.

Juneteenth is a day to celebrate overcoming adversity, embracing independence, and healing, and I hope that everyone is able to honor the importance of this day.

Reactions to stressful, chaotic, or traumatic experiences are varied. Some may not make sense to us, are unhelpful, and/or may even be harmful. Understanding that there’s not one designated response to trauma is key in being trauma-Informed, and providing trauma-informed services.

There’s not a one-size-fits-all approach to addressing these reactions and coping mechanisms, which is why we are dedicated in meeting each client where they are at and addressing their individual needs.

You can reach our office at 251-343-0566 if you are interested in learning more about coping mechanisms and developing the skills to handle life’s challenges.

We have three practitioners, all of whom bring different approaches and strengths to the table.

Courtney, Annsley, and Lauren have different personalities and are very unique from one another. What they all have in common though: their strong belief that mental health care is an essential part of wellbeing, and their commitment to making quality mental health care accessible in the most welcoming environment possible.

We will be posting individual bios on each of our providers in the near future, but in the meantime, you can view their individual socials which are tagged, check out their Psychology Today profiles, or call our office at 251-343-0566 to get more information about them.
