In recognition of National Social Work Month, we honor the dedication, compassion, and resilience of social workers who tirelessly advocate for individuals, families, and communities. Their work often happens behind the scenes, yet its impact is life-changing—providing support, promoting dignity, and empowering those in need. This month, we celebrate their unfaltering commitment to making a difference and acknowledge the vital role they play in building stronger, healthier communities. We would like to shout out Springhill Rehabilitation and Senior Residence’s two social workers, Rachel Shirah and LaShay Griffin. Rachel serves as the Social Work Manager and Long-Term Care social worker. LaShay serves as the rehabilitation/short-term social worker. To truly highlight Rachel and LaShay’s characters and the fantastic work they do, here are some comments from fellow SSR staff on our two social workers:
Rachel is “caring, excitable, compassionate, diligent, humble”.
“Rachel is always looking out for her residents and truly gets excited to help them in any way possible.”
“Rachel is such an advocate for her residents and families. Her residents needs always come first and she won’t stop until she provides them with the best quality of care.“
LaShay is “sparkling, empathetic, charismatic, cheerful, caring”.
“LaShay always has the resident’s best interest in mind, always striving for the best outcome possible.”
“Lashay works hard to always do what is right for the residents and their families. She works so well with her resources to get exactly what the residents need for their transition home.”
SSR Administrator, Lana Davis, stated “Springhill Senior Residence is so fortunate to have two licensed Social Workers who go above and beyond to meet the needs of our residents. It is through their patience, empathy, and guidance that makes a difference in our residents lives on a daily basis. Their commitment to helping others during some of the most challenging times does not go unnoticed. Their work matters deeply and I would be remiss to not mention them during “Social Worker Appreciation” month. Thank you, ladies, for all you do.”
