Charles “Willie” (Pete) McGhee passed away yesterday afternoon in his home at First Light Community of Mobile at the age of 76. ❤️🩹
After 52 years of shared love, laughter, friendship, and family, our community marks another step towards the end of an era. Willie joined our community around the age of 25 after living in a state institution from the age of 10. Willie struggled, fought, and cried, but eventually learned to trust and celebrate life. After accepting home in our community, he became a stellar example to others of what life means to lead with the spirit of Welcome to others. ❣️
Willie loved a good practical joke, breaking down the dance floor, blowing kisses, and always living beyond what others expected of him. He never ran out of surprises, even at the end. Take a moment to imagine the amount of lives and hearts touched and transformed by the life of one man. Thank you, Willie. ✨️
