Good afternoon,

My name is Alyssa Moody, and I am an Associate Counselor at the University Counseling and Wellness Center. I have also been given the great privilege of becoming the new Jag Student Support Network (JSSN) Coordinator. I’m reaching out today because we are currently seeking applicants to become JSSN Peer Mentors and wanted to spread the word!

The JSSN Program consists of a group of dedicated and diverse students from our campus who demonstrate qualities such as empathy, kindness, genuineness, and a desire to help others. As a JSSN Peer Mentor, students will receive training on various mental health topics, including depression, anxiety, time and stress management, su***de prevention, and more. This program is designed to equip selected Peer Mentors with the knowledge and skills they need to support other students who may be struggling or facing adversity, promote overall wellness on campus, and connect students in need to campus resources. Peer Mentor responsibilities include one-on-one conversations with fellow students, advocacy, representation at campus events, and more. The skills and experiences gained by completing training and participating as a Peer Mentor will be valuable as students begin developing their personal and professional identities.

To be selected as a JSSN Peer Mentor, students will need to fill out an application, be selected for an interview, and complete essential mental health training. If any students you know may be interested, please pass along my email or the link to the application, which are both listed below. The Spring 2025 application deadline is February 13, 2025, at 5 p.m. If you have any additional questions, feel free to contact me via email anytime. I have also attached a flyer that displays a QR code to the application. Please feel free to distribute this flyer to those who may be interested!

Navigating the holidays can be tough, especially when it comes to boundaries. Remember, it's okay to prioritize you as much as possible. I know that can be hard especially when you have demanding family or you're trying to make things great for the kiddos but always have yourself in mind as well!
