Our physicians are skilled in innovative diagnostic and treatment techniques to help patients with a wide array of issues, including peripheral artery disease, venous diseases, varicose veins, aneurysms, leg and foot ulcers, renal artery disease, carotid disease and stroke prevention. Vascular Associates of South Alabama offers on-site ultrasound exams and same day ultrasound and physician appointments. We are a top provider of limb salvage services and other preventive care options aimed at helping men and women from throughout Southern Alabama enjoy optimal health at every age.

Benjamin J. Makamson, D.O., FACOS, R.P. V. I. Board certified in vascular and general surgery, Dr. Makamson is a summa cm laude graduate of Mississippi State University, where he earned a bachelor of science degree in biological sciences. He earned his Doctor of Osteopathy degree at Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences, followed by a five-year general surgery residency at Des Peres Hospital in St. Louis, and a vascular surgery fellowship at the University of Missouri. Dr. Makamson is a Registered Physician in Vascular Interpretation.

Lee C. Ferguson, D. O., R.P.V.I.

Dr. Ferguson is a fellowship trained vascular surgeon and is board certified in general surgery. He graduated from Pikeville College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2008. He completed his surgical residency at The University of South Alabama Medical Center in 2014 followed by his vascular surgery fellowship at The University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson, Mississippi in 2016. Dr. Ferguson is Board Certified in General Surgery and is a Registered Physician in Vascular Interpretation.
