Seven months since we lost our home to fire and water damage. Seven months since we have been displaced and homeless. Seven months and nothing has been done. It’s been 2 1/2 months since the insurance company decided that we did not burn our home down. It’s been two months since they said that the estimate has been sent to corporate for review and approval and pay out. Two months, that's 8 weeks, or 56 days and they have not said one more word since. They have not communicated with us, nor have they communicated with our attorney and I am more than pi**ed off!!! Why is this okay? Why is this acceptable? Our insurance company is not being a GOOD NEIGHBOR at all. We’ve been with them for a little over a decade and never filed a claim and THIS is how they treat us. If you own your home outright without a mortgage, I highly recommend it that you self insure your home. Cancel your insurance, take that money you would pay every month or year on a premium and put it in a high-yield interest bearing account. Insurance is a scam. It is a multi billion dollar fraudulent industry. Because even though they want to act like they’re your friend, they’re not. They want to pay out as little dimes as possible and as of right now, a little over seven months post fire, they haven’t even paid us one. They have covered our hotel and rental, yes, but… We don’t see that money as it goes directly to the rental company. Which is fine because we need a roof over our head, but we are running out of time and money. Our time is up at this rental next month on my birthday... where we’re expected to move out and pay rent somewhere upfront so that we can submit it to them for reimbursement and they’ll reimburse it when? When they feel like it? That is unacceptable. We’re still paying a mortgage on a house we can’t live in and we’re gonna be expected to come up with rent every month until they decide they want to finish paying out this claim. We CANNOT afford to do that! Which, by the way, can take upwards of five years. Isn’t Insurance great?
And, as of today, I'm pretty sure that my ACL is torn... So there's more money for medical care going out.
