Reconciliation Counseling Services, LLC

Reconciliation Counseling Services, LLC Providing healing from trauma through professional counseling services. Living this life can be difficult. I provide counseling to individuals and families.

I have found that everyone encounters trials, and these experiences can have lasting effects on one's whole self (body, mind and spirit). These trials can be anything from negative relational experiences and abuses to even significant traumatic events. I engage my clients with trauma-based approaches from a Christian perspective to allow for adaptive integration of emotional stuck points so a sens

e of reconciliation and ultimate wholeness can be experienced. My name is Steven Booker and I have earned a Bachelor of Music in Church Music and Master of Arts in Marriage and Family Counseling from the University of Mobile. I use a variety of techniques, but have found significant results for my clients with the use of Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) Therapy. I am a Certified EMDR Therapist and Approved Consultant through EMDRIA, Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Alabama and a National Certified Counselor. I have had experience working with children, adolescents and adults in a variety of treatment settings from clinical mental health to vocational ministry. I can accept many insurance plans and have a sliding scale if you do not have or wish to use insurance. I can also provide you with a super bill to obtain out of network reimbursement should I not be on your insurance panel. "From now on, therefore, we regard no one according to the flesh. Even though we once regarded Christ according to the flesh, we regard him thus no longer. Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come. All this is from God, who through Christ reconciled us to himself and gave us the ministry of reconciliation; that is, in Christ God was reconciling the world to himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and entrusting to us the message of reconciliation. Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, God making his appeal through us. We implore you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God. For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God." 2 Corinthians 5:16-21

I wanted to share that I’m offering another experiential weekend focused on helping men work through their formative stories. Our last retreat was well attended and deeply impactful for the men that participated.
In a group context, we'll explore how these stories impact their styles of relating interpersonally, ways of thinking and feeling about themselves, and how this contributes to dysfunctional behavior patterns. I have found that participating in this type of intensive retreat offers tremendous support to an individual therapy process. For many men this work accomplishes therapeutically what would take approximately 6 months to achieve through individual sessions. This experience utilizes the strength of masculine connection to promote relational and emotional growth with other men.
This retreat will be facilitated by myself and Chris Inman. I've been a trauma therapist for 15 years and I’m a facilitator for The Allender Center that focuses on engaging formative stories. Chris is a trauma-informed recovery coach (PSAP) and has extensive experience doing story work and men's weekends.
Meals, lodging and all materials are included in the cost. Please note, this retreat will have a spiritual orientation. It is not group therapy or a replacement for individual therapy, but does work nicely as an adjunctive personal growth process. Please share and anyone interested can fill out this form to learn more.
*If cost is an issue we do have two partial scholarships available upon request.

We will not find restoration of our wounds until we are able to return to the particular moments of wounding with kindness toward our younger selves, engaging, grieving, and blessing all of the complexity that comes with our memories.

Have you ever wondered how you have come to relate to others in your life? Are you curious to understand how much your upbringing has impacted your way of navigating the world and your relationships? Do you desire to engage with more depth and awareness into the story of your life?

I have found story work in a group context to be a wonderful way to gain insight and heal from difficult stories and their present-day impact. Click the link to find out more! "Grief without gratitude is a refusal to honor how brokenness has been part of shaping us to become who we’re meant to be... But the other side is all gratitude and no grief. So even in goodness, there’s something about being able to struggle and to grieve. Otherwise, it’s a form of idealization, that really is just another form of idolatry." -Dr. Dan Allender

As we prepare for Thanksgiving and all that it holds – the goodness and grief of gathering with family and friends, the ache of missing loved ones, and reminders of the things for which we are thankful – may we remember that we are meant to hold both gratitude and grief together. It's complex, and it's not one or the other. So let us all hold space at the table this holiday weekend for that complexity.
