The Mobile County Health Department and Family Health, its primary care division, have been celebrating its social workers during March who serve across Mobile County, advancing the shared mission to uplift, defend, and transform the lives of our residents.
This morning, the social workers gathered at the Keeler Memorial Building for the final observance of Social Work Month.
“The role of a social worker can be very stressful at times and without appropriate workplace boundaries and a realistic self-care plan, social workers can burnout before they even get started,” said Tiesha Taylor, the Director of Social Services. “Today, we focused on burnout prevention and creating a realistic self-care plan that can be incorporated into our daily routine.
“Self-care doesn’t have to be expensive trips to the spa. Self-care can look like taking the two 15-minute breaks offered by the agency, practicing deep breathing exercises, and remembering to add yourself to the long list of priorities. Self-care should be proactive, not reactive.”
