Prayers and hard work have been answered!!

After 31 years in nursing and 27 in lactation, I’ve seen one thing clearly: breastfeeding success isn't just about one visit, it’s about continuity of care.

When insurance coverage shifted in 2025, I saw a heartbreaking trend of "crisis care." But starting January 1, 2026, Gulf Coast Lactation will once again be accepting most insurance plans! This allows us to get back to routine check-ins that catch problems before they become crises.

Come see the Alabama Lactation Coalition and Gulf Coast Lactation at the First Annual Family Fun Day Fundraiser! This is to help continue serving families for all their breastfeeding and postpartum needs for free. The continuation of community support will allow this very necessary resource to not only continue but to thrive, plus who doesn’t love a fun fall activity for your family!

The Gulf Coast Doula Collective meeting is such a highlight of my month. I’m so thankful for these women who show up everytime to help mentor other doulas and to the newer doulas who get to learn and grow in this profession. Doula work can be really tough done alone and to have all these shoulders to lean on is beautiful! So thankful to Colleen for opening up her space for our group and to Patricia who always spoils us with amazing food! Love all these ladies who give so selflessly and support our communities!

It was such an honor to get to celebrate Scotty Jacob Thomson and Michelle Lloyd opening their doors at Gulf Coast Lactation community center! This space will be such an amazing resource for families and I’m so thankful to be able to send my doula clients to both of these women who care so deeply for our pregnant and postpartum Mothers! Please share, donate and/or sponsor Gulf Coast Lactations future events and reach out if you have any questions on how to do that! So thankful to be a small part of the Alabama Lactation Coalition who is working towards efforts to expand insurance coverage for breastfeeding mothers and to continue to support Scotty and Michelle in their efforts to bring such a beautiful resource to our community!
