This morning, the USA Medical Alumni Association had the privilege of welcoming the Class of 2029 during M1 Orientation Week with a sponsored breakfast and special presentation. MAA President Russell Goode, MD ’10, shared insight into the mission of the MAA and encouraged students to stay connected with the alumni network that will support them throughout their medical journey and beyond.

A wonderful opportunity to encourage USA medical students as we celebrate this milestone in their journey to becoming physicians!

The USA Medical Alumni Association is proud to provide Whiddon COM students with their very first white coats. As a part of this special tradition, the alumni association includes a handwritten note card in the pocket of every white coat when they are presented to students at the White Coat Ceremony. The MAA needs your words of encouragement and advice for these notes. They request that you submit your own special message via email to medalum@southalabama.edu by June 9.

Today, the USA Medical Alumni Association and MAA Board Member, Dr. Romsel Ang, ’01, were proud to host a complimentary coffee and treat bar for MD and PhD students at the Whiddon College of Medicine. Over 80 students stopped by to grab a morning treat and recharge. We're grateful for the opportunity to support the next generation of physicians and medical researchers—thanks to everyone who came by!

This Friday, March 21, the USA Whiddon College of Medicine Class of 2025 will celebrate Match Day, a pivotal milestone in their medical careers. At 11 a.m., graduating medical students will join peers across North America in opening their envelopes to reveal their residency program placements.

The MAA hosted the 2025 Student Career Mixer on Tuesday, February 4, at the Strada Patient Care Center, bringing together over 40 Whiddon College of Medicine students and 32 physicians representing 23 unique specialties.

This annual event offers students a valuable opportunity to connect with medical alumni and area physicians, explore different career paths, and build meaningful professional relationships.

Thank you to all our medical student and physician attendees who made this event a success!
