💡 Connection before correction.
When kids are overwhelmed by big emotions, their brains are in survival mode. That means lectures, discipline, and problem-solving usually won’t land yet.
First we connect. Then we teach.

Try scripts like:

• “I can see you’re really upset right now.” • “That was really frustrating, huh?” • “I’m here with you. Let’s take a minute.” • “Your feelings make sense.” • “Let’s calm our bodies first and then we’ll figure this out together.”

When kids feel understood, their nervous systems start to settle and that’s when they’re able to learn, listen, and repair.

Connection doesn’t mean there are no limits. It means we help regulate first, then guide behavior.

To birth a drum is to create a lifetime companion that breathes with you and speaks for the parts of your soul that have no words.

The drum symbolizes the heartbeat of Mother Earth, of life itself, and the heartbeat of a community. It is not simply an instrument or an art form, but a spirit companion that grows with you, helping you navigate altered states of consciousness and on your spiritual journey. It assists you in cleansing, centering, and focusing your intentions for health and happiness. Drum Birthing is an honor, a meditation and a meaningful lifelong connection.

Rattle birthing is a sacred experience that bridges the physical and spiritual worlds. It becomes an intentional creation. Birthing your own rattle is a sacred process that transforms a physical object into a living spiritual ally. Your rattle and drum will be infused with your specific DNA, breath, and intention, creating a unique energetic resonance between the creator and the sacred spirit animal.
💫The location is April Walker's Office, Tuolumne, CA
💫The dates:Friday May 1st - Sunday May 3rd.
💫The time is: Friday 2-6pm and Saturday & Sunday 10-6pm.
💫We will each be birthing a rattle and an 18-in drum for a deeper, more resonant sound.
💫The total workshop cost after January 1st is $995. Payment plan available!

The cost includes:
💫All materials needed to birth and enhance your rattle and drum.
💫All instructions and guidance.
💫All of the materials needed to create your drumstick.
💫All guidance and instruction for designing and making each of them all your own.
💫Several sound meditations to assist in each phase of your process and connecting.
You will need to bring:
💫Two towels to lay your rattle & drum on while it is being birthed into creation.
💫Scissors strong enough to cut through hide, I recommend kitchen scissors.
💫A pillowcase and or a chosen special cloth to carry your rattle & drum home in.
💫A bagged lunch, or you can go out for lunch, and any preferred hydration.
💫A journal and a pen.
💫I also encourage, but is not necessary, any special personal items to energetically connect with or add to your drum.
💖💞💖There is limited space so please sign up as soon as you can and request your spirit animal hide. Your choices are: Cow, Bison, Buffalo, Deer, Elk or Horse.
Your request can be fulfilled if we get it at least two weeks before our workshop. Otherwise, you can choose from what we have available.

One of the reasons I encourage everyone to attend Reiki Shares and write down their Reiki experiences is because the little moments often become the most meaningful later.

A story shared with me this week made me smile.

During a Reiki session on Tuesday, the student kept hearing what sounded like faint static coming through the session. Subtle, but noticeable.
Whether you see moments like this as a coincidence, heightened awareness, or energy interacting with the environment, Reiki practice invites us to notice what is happening.
It turned out it was not static at all.

The computer had started to overheat and the fan kicked on. Apparently that does not happen when the computer is used for other things.

I love that we can come together from different states in the US and from different countries to share and receive Reiki in multiple time zones.
Today we focused on our personal energy centers, organs & glands before our individual sessions. It was a nice, balanced place to begin.
