Sierra Vista welcomed local teen national boxing champion Damon Flores for a special visit with students at Kirk Baucher Non-Public School.

Damon toured the campus with his dad, Damian Flores, Pete Brichka from The Performance Lab, and Channce A. Condit Stanislaus County Supervisor, District 5. They met with staff, learned more about the school’s programs, and spent time connecting with students.

Damon shared about the hard work and discipline that helped him reach a national championship level, encouraging students to stay focused and believe in their potential. We appreciate their visit and the inspiration they brought to our students.

Our North Modesto and Hughson Family Resource Centers recently hosted Dr. Seuss literacy events for families with children ages 0–5, bringing together young learners for a morning focused on early reading and play. Children enjoyed story time, hands-on crafts, and interactive activities designed to spark curiosity. Families also took home books and goodie bags to help continue learning at home.

Thank you to everyone who joined us in celebrating early literacy and supporting strong foundations for young children.

A special thanks to our partners at First 5 Stanislaus.

Students from our Kirk Baucher Non-Public School recently visited the Children's Garden for a meaningful, hands-on learning experience. During the visit, students explored how gardening connects to nutrition and learned how plants grow. The group also got involved by seeding corn and planting red cabbage, contributing to a space that supports the community.

We are grateful to the Modesto Children’s Garden for welcoming our students, and to Kristin Galloway from Save Mart for joining us and supporting our students.

Our Story

Sierra Vista Child & Family Services has been helping abused, neglected and emotionally disturbed children and families in crisis in California’s Central Valley since 1972. We do this through a series of integrated programs that include mental health services, early childhood services, special education, therapeutic residential treatment, adoption, foster care, clinical and family support in homes and schools, perinatal substance abuse treatment and community counseling. Our goal is to provide access to quality programs and services that make a difference to a child, their family, and the entire community.
