Challenging and changing traditions is difficult on a regular day. Making shifts during the holidays tends to have even deeper push back. My recent blog post encourages you to have the courage to evaluate the notion of doing things simply because it's the way they have always been done. Having the courage to allow change is scary, but so very rewarding.

Often social media showcases only the highlights in the lives of others leading to a place of wondering what we’re doing wrong if we don’t feel the same. Pausing and remembering that life is about balance can allow for the ability to be okay feeling the sad. Without sorrow, we can never truly experience joy.

On this amazing Friday in November as we transition to cooler mornings and shorter days, go outside in the crisp morning air. Allow your lungs to be filled. Remind yourself you are alive. Today will be what today is. You are the difference in how that impacts you and those around you.

⭐️In recent years the vagus nerve has become more popular when having conversations regarding the mind body connection.

⭐️Because the vagus nerve plays a key role in improving nervous system resiliency and stress tolerance, people are beginning to take notice of importance in learning more. The large majority of our body's functions are affected by the vagus nerve which is why healthy vagal tone is essential in overall wellness.

⭐️Higher vagal tone means more activity in the vagus nerve and a higher capacity for stress, change, and challenge as well as the ability to rest, recharge, and recover.

Don’t forget: Beautiful sunsets require cloudy skies. -Paulo Coelho

Often in our darkest times, it is hardest to see the light. Yet if we pause and think about it, the most amazing beautiful skies occur just after a break in a large storm.

Nature has such a way to remind us of what life is like. After a storm, the air smells clean. After a fire, new growth appears because the brush is all burned away. After a major pruning, the tree has room to produce healthy growth and new fruit.

All around us we are reminded to look for the light, to search for the new growth, to pause and smell the clean air.

Lots of exciting things happening at Life in Balance over the next few weeks. Along with the already announced “Equip Yourself” workshop for first responders, I will also be hosting two additional workshops.

“Connect. Heal. Balance.” was created specifically for health care professionals. Through this class you will learn proactive skills to process stress while learning tools that promote successful patient interactions.

The last of these workshops is “Discover Your Superpower: The Vagus Nerve” where you will discover the missing link to your overall health and wellness.

All workshops will take place at Elevate Community Yoga.
