Seven Keys to Recovery
The Steps that Nehemiah took are very specific steps, very orderly and very effective! Taken in order they will lead to a full recovery of usefulness.
All addiction is simply the manifestation of sin.
If you listen to most churches, they use secular-sounding drug treatment verbiage in their recovery groups. The word “sin” has been changed to disease/sickness. Once you remove sin from a Christian's vocabulary and from the church's outreach approach to the lost, it becomes watered down and eventually non-effective.
Acknowledging all substance abuse/drug addiction as sin is an addict's only real hope for recovery. Once we acknowledge and confess our addictions as sin, we can then repent and receive forgiveness, cleansing, and the overcoming power for all of life's situations. By receiving God's forgiveness, it will actually clear our conscience, which in turn, proves God is real, all powerful and loving. This IS the basis of Christianity. We cannot remove the power.
People first need to identify their own life-controlling strongholds as sin so they can truly repent for it. If you leave out calling any type of life-controlling stronghold a sin then you have nothing to repent of and receive forgiveness from. The fact still remains; Jesus Christ forgives sin today just as He has for over 2,000 years.
