PT Month – Quick PT Tip from Allison: Tummy time is important, and it doesn’t have to be so hard! If your little one is still learning how to lift their head on their forearms, adding a small towel roll under the shoulders during supervised tummy time can help them shift their weight backward to make it easier for them to lift their head. You can add some engagement by talking, singing or holding up a colorful toy. ❤ PT!

PT Month - NDT Certification: Our physical therapists, Marcy and Allision, are both Neuro-Development Treatment (NDT) certified. The NDT certificate course curriculum is rigorous and requires intensive training. The training includes classroom education, hands-on lab work with practice in problem-solving and application of intervention strategies, treatment demonstrations by instructors, and mentored clinical practice. We’re proud to have multiple NDT certified pediatric therapists on staff to help children with neuromotor disorders including cerebral palsy, muscular dystrophy, spina bifida, and brain injury. Find out more about NDT on our website, https://www.kidscando.org/ndt-neuro-developmental-treatment.

PT Month - PT Tip from Allison: As cooler weather approaches, you can help your child practice balance and gross motor skills indoors with items you already have. Pillows, couch cushions, and rolled-up blankets can become balance beams or wobbly walkways. Turn obstacle courses into “ninja" or “avoid the hot lava” challenges. Place painter’s tape on the floor to create targets to jump to, and on doorways to step through or duck under. ❤️ PT!
