My dad gave me this advice a long time ago when I moved into my first apartment. He even came out and changed the screws for me as soon as I moved in. Someone else recently posted about it and I thought I would share!
A good home security tip that you may have never thought about.... Most contractors install the plates with the supplied screws which are only a half inch long and come out with one kick by a burglar. He installed 4 inch screws in their place that go through the door frame and into the framing of the house. They can kick for a long time before they get tired! You can see in the picture the screw in his hand is the screw supplied with the door hardware. Making a burglar make a bunch of noise and be foiled in their initial plan can not only give you time to arm yourself but they will most likely move on to an easier target.

“I drive a school bus and have a 6 grader who I would like to talk about.
Last week he was talking about an elderly neighbor not leaving her house for weeks. I tried to explain how hard it could be for her to do things. On Tuesday I pulled up and he wasn't at the stop waiting. I looked over and saw him shoveling her porch. I was early so I waited for him. The other kids asked why I waited. I said anyone helping someone deserves a few extra minutes. All the kids started asking him questions about his neighbor. The next day 7 children got on the bus with blankets, food and cards for the elderly woman. I delivered them after worked. Now everyday she stands on the porch and the whole bus waves good morning. I am so proud of him for stepping up and doing the right thing. He taught all the children something important. I smile with pride in my heart because of the extraordinary children I have on my bus.” ❤

I don’t know much about this sweet man, but I know he has an incredible heart ❤️
He was driving in Fulton County, GA when he saw this puppy get hit by a car.
He is the only one who stopped, as other cars just raced by.
He dodged traffic to scoop the puppy up and keep him safe.
He tried to take him to an animal hospital, but was turned away because this pup was a stray.
That did not stop him from trying to save the dog’s life.
This man then rushed the dog to Fulton’s LifeLine Animal Project shelter and waited outside until he could get help.
The shelter brought in Second Chance Rescue NYC Dogs who agreed to sponsor the pup and get him the intense medical care he needs.
This puppy has a long way to go now - but he still has a chance - and it’s all because this man cared ❤️
