Located at the Moline High School- 3602 Avenue of the Cities, Moline, Illinois 61265. The idea for the School Health LINK, Inc. (LINK) began in 1993 when local public health and education officials noticed an increase in school absences because low-income children could not obtain medical care. A free clinic was established where, upon referral by a school nurse, students could be seen for free on Tuesday afternoons. Retired, volunteer physicians and health department nurses staffed the clinic and children received treatment for both chronic and acute conditions. The demand for services increased and in August 1995, a full-time School Health LINK, Inc. clinic opened in Silvis, Illinois. School teachers, nurses, counselors, social workers, and principles brought children to appointments if the family was unable. In this way, children received quality physical and mental health care in an easily accessible location, helping keep them healthy, in school, and learning. The rising percentage of low-income families in Rock Island necessitated the opening of a second LINK clinic in Rock Island in November 2000. This Rock Island Clinic then Moved to Moline High School on 8-15-2022. To date, the LINK has provided care at over 80,000 appointments for low-income children and teens in Rock Island County.
