Floating is the art of doing nothing! You simply float in a light and sound proofed room, on 10 inches of water filled with 1,000 pounds of epsom salt. The water is around 35% salt, compared to the ocean, which is only 3%. This provides for effortless floating and relaxation. Sound weird? Float tanks were invented in the 1950's, and people have been using them for many years, including many professional athletic organizations. Also known as sensory deprivation or isolation tanks, floating has a ton of benefits, and more research is being done on floatation therapy everyday. Sensory deprivation sounds scary, but it is not. By giving yourself the opportunity to experience an environment free of distractions (like light and sound), your brain can relax and focus on other important things. It is not unusual for people to have huge breakthroughs during or after a float. Floating is also great for learning faster or practicing a speech or presentation.
